    WHQL

It doesn't mean the drivers are any better than a set that is not WHQL, it just means they have been tested by (or proven to) Microsoft to provide maximum compatibility.

As for those saying they are not WHQL, the ones that were on ATIs servers were (thats where I got mine from) if the ones you downloaded from a mirror site weren't then chances are they have been changed in some way.

If you DID get them from the ATI site, a forum mod says they were delayed till Monday and you (if you already have them from their servers) will not need to download them again. So I doubt there is a problem with them if the ones coming on monday are the same as what was uploaded on their servers yesterday.

Got a little boost in 3dmark06 with 9.5, result went from 15300 to 15500 (all hw @default clocks).

No the 2d/3d bug is not fixed for everyone, me included. Maybe AMD chose to fix it only for 4870x2´s?? But my 4850x2 is still behaving with the same issue...

Same here... since 9.1 (8.51 - 8.12 no bug). The edited profile does not work for the second card. I'm using GPUTool to set low clocks to default : GPU 160MHz/ Mem 250MHz. ASUS EAH4850 BIOS 113-B50102-X07, 02/19/2009 (ATI reference single slot card)

No it has not been fixed, you can correct the issue by overclocking 5 mhz and it will downclock without going into 3d.

Maybe because 3 or 4 months ago was winter, so the ambient temperature near your computer was lower than it is now, providing a passive cooling effect.

My new HIS card suffered from the 3D clock error with 9.4, so I fell back to 8.12, during which it ran okay for a day, but afterwards it started having it again. So I thought to step up to the the 9.5 beta, but I've still got it. Nobody's answered my question whether the official 9.5 drivers are any better then the beta.

Out of interest, i rarely update my drivers - If I install these how would I go about it? (i.e. driver sweeper's needed or....?)

Just install it over last driver set. The catalyst manager will do what ever it needs to do.
