well first i went from a 8800gts 320 mb to a 9800 gtx+ that was really cool but then i got greedy and got a 2nd 9800 gtx+ and i must say the only game i saw as an improvment was crysis but then i was faced with a decition do i fill my mobo with 3 9800gtx+ or do i get the gtx295 lol yea lets say i never regret buying my gtx295 lol i love it
Probably the least impressive upgrade of a card for me was moving from a 8800GTS 512 to a GTX 275. Sure, big Vantage boost and Crysis plays a lot better, faster, but its a game I loathe. I only tested it out of curiosity. All other games I tried, I saw nothing to make me feel this was a worthy upgrade. For some reason, the IQ seems somewhat better on my older card, maybe its a driver thing, dunno. So I would say now my fave card of all was the G92 8800 gts. It has not let me down in ANY game that I cared about to date.
I went from a rage 128pro to a 7600GT, WOW that was a massive upgrade for me, it meant i could actually play FEAR lol
My best videocard experience happens... NOW! 7600 GT / Pentium 4 / XP x86 ---ยป GTX260 SP216 / i7 920 / VISTA x64
I remember thinking how incredibly imersive Everquest was on my Geforce 2 That was a nice card, but so was my 3dfx Voodoo 3 PCI before that. There weren't any issues back then like you can run into now. Everything just worked. On another note, remember when pretty much everyone had a 15 inch monitor? I remember seeing my friends 17 inch and thinking it was OMFG HUGE!!!! :eek2: I also remember when the first flat panels came out. We had 15 inch ones at Best Buy and people actually payed $1k for them!
Going from a PIII Coppermine @ 600Mhz with an nVidia TNT2 PRO to a AMD XP 3200 + XFX 6800 (Vanilla with pipes unlocked) was an amazing day... O.O
I will never forget my ATI 9700 PRO back in the day, that was the first card were you could use AA and AF with playable framerates and I miss the great image quality of ATI, my games look so much better with my ATI card
I came from a nVIDIA Quadro NVS 280 to the Intel GMA 950, to the 4870X2 I have now, so I pretty much appreciate the new card a hell lot. Sure, I'm facing all those CrossFire related problems, but the fact that I can actually play games now means something to me.
Yeh when the 4890 came out a lot of people said that it wouldn't be much of an upgrade from the 4870, but I am glad I made the plunge, from 820 on 4870OC to 960 on 4890OC with maybe a little more headroom, well worth the upgrade I feel
Going from a 6600 to a 6800GTOC was an eye opener for me.... But upgrading from an ATI X1950XT to my 8800GTX takes the cake. Seems like no game can kill the 8800GTX..
^lol, awesome old GPU's... well, i originally had a ati radeon 9000 on my home PC ad upgraded it to a radeon X1600 pro 512MB, wich was a huge upgrade. then when i had my own PC(with the x1600 in it) i upgraded a wile ago to my 9600GT which was another huge upgrade, then when i went from the athlon 64 to E8500 and when i got SLI... before i started building my pc with my 9600GT, i knew very little about computers. all my upgrades have been huge, so far. im hoping to get the same reaction when i upgrade to the 300 series.
going from integrated vram of 64mb from my Samsung laptop with 512 of ram and a P4 to a 8800gts 320, 4gigs of ram and a AMD 6000+ was awesome, that laptop is now in the bin
I went from a Sapphire Radeon x1900xtx 512mb to a BFG 8800GT 512mb and the performance increase was amazing imo. last year in December I went from a 8800GT to my current 9800GTX and the performance wasn't that much but ok to me but with it over clocked it is worth it..
my 4870 1gb. with all the negative things i heard about ati drivers and such,i thought i would have pulled all my hair out. this it my first ati card and the best card i've ever own,not one drama ever so far.....thanks ATI
