Yeah it stood out for me, just the way it was all put together, it had some of the best in game music ever done in my opinion.
Ok, apart from the music that you like... How else did it stand out ? Did I miss out on something ? Does the box open itself and do the neutron dance when you clap ? Or... does it make chocolate ?
The game was polished and smooth, had a great story, nice varied environments with a good amount of freedom. The vehicle sections were by far better than any previous FPS i had played, most previous FPS's i had played only had on rails vehicle sections. It's the only FPS i didn't mind not playing with a mouse and keyboard.
Wow, I'm surprised no one has said Doom and Doom II yet. That is my favorite game music of all time by far.
I don't see how that comstitutes a facepalm, i didn't say Halo was the best FPS ever or anything like that. Half-Life will always be my favourite FPS of all time but Halo had some great parts and the sound and music were one of them. And this thread is about game music.
Doesn't really matter which part of Halo you enjoyed -to me, at least- the mere fact that Halo was mentioned in a positive light constitutes a facepalm.
Yeah, I loved it too. I had updated OGG Vorbis music files for mine and rocked out to it. In the original doom, there is a level called the Tower of soemthing...think it was an optional level...anyway, that song OWNED!
Speaking of old games... I vaguely remember a game called Hexen... I just remember a glove and something that resembles a gargoyle... Weird flashbacks :S Original Prince of Persia music was awesome
Ah i remembered this tune now. anyone know this ? Street Fighter 2 Guile Theme http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VWqIfiJ_th8
Nice to see you get back on track Ieldra  Just remembered this after hearing some Lion King music on the tele. Main theme from Civ IV
Hexen was pretty cool. Id's take on fps/roleplaying back in the day. But as far as that goes, Heretic was where it's at music wise. That game had some unbelieveable stuff. Remember the old Soundblaster 64's with sound font banks and all that? You could select the SB 64 in dos with those old midi games and the "good" quality music? Those were the days. Doom series, Heretic, Hexen, Daggerfall, Arena on a SB 64 was the sh*t
