Clevo Base Systems Sager variant of Clevo I have and so far even for just 2k-3k its performing very well. Ran Crysis Warhead well too
base price @ $1800, GTX 280m, up to 2.53GHz quad core, ect... best deal IMO. http://www.sagernotebook.com/product_customed.php?pid=129131 unless you want multi GPU, then this with dual 9800m GTX. http://www.sagernotebook.com/product_customed.php?pid=29175 the 9800m GTX has 112 sp's and is slightly less powerful than a 9800GT. the GTX 280m has 128 sp's and is slightly less powerful than a 9800GTX
If you really want to spend 4000$ on laptop, I would look into a dell xps m1730 here you can make som calculations, too see what the prize would be with different components for ~3700$ you get a mobile beast http://configure.us.dell.com/dellst...=en&s=dhs&cs=19&kc=productdetails~xpsnb_m1730
thats only the 8800m GTX SLI max, the 8800m GTX has 96 sp's and that model does not have centrino 2(with the 1066Mhz FSB) while the sager has centrino 2, and the other one actually uses desktop CPU's.... just to be aware of that...
The really nice Sager I saw was sold out of the 9800m GTX and the only option was a Quadro card. And I know for a fact I don't want a Quadro card. Now I looked at Dell, I looked at Sager, and I know you guys HATE Alienware but I looked at them as well. I know for a fact that I love how the Alienware laptops look and perform. I have a friend that has an Area-51 m15x. And the look and build quality of it is phenomenal and it's performance is pretty nice too. I was really looking at getting an Alienware M17. Fully loaded with a bunch of accessories aswell the total price comes to about $4,000 USD. Here are the specs: Video Card: Dual 512MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD3870 CPU: Intel Core 2 T9600 2.8GHz 6MB Cache 1066MHz FSB Screen: 17" Wide 1920x1200 Keyboard: Illuminated Keyboard OS: Windows Vista Ultimate x64 SP1 RAM: 4GB DDR3 1066MHz HDD: 2x 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache (RAID1) DVD Drive: 8X DualLayer DVD Burner w/ LightScribe Wireless Card: Intel Ultimate N 5300 a/b/g/Draft-N Total w/o Accessories: $3.089.00 Accessories: Additional 12 Cell Battery Vehicle AC Adapter Belkin Mini Surge Protector Additional AC Adaptor (For The House) Logitech VX Revolution (Mouse) Firewire Adapter (9-pin to 6 pin) 32GB Patriot USB Flash Drive Alienware Orion Backpack 25ft Ethernet Cable Total w/ Accessories: $3,628.00 Now I could upgrade the CPU from a Core 2 T9600 2.8GHz to a Core 2 Extreme X9100 3.06GHz and the total will be bumped up to $3,978.00. I highly doubt that the upgrade would be worth it, but I'm unsure about mobile CPUs. Anyone want to provide insight? Here is the list of CPU's ------------------------------------------ Intel® Core™2 P8400 2.26GHz (3MB Cache, 1066MHz FSB) [-$500] Intel® Core™2 P8600 2.4GHz (3MB Cache, 1066MHz FSB) [-$450] Intel® Core™2 T9400 2.53GHz (6MB Cache, 1066MHz FSB) [-$250] Intel® Core™2 Quad Q9000 2.00GHz (6MB Cache, 1066MHz FSB) [-$200] Intel® Core™2 T9600 2.8GHz (6MB Cache, 1066MHz FSB) Intel® Core™2 Extreme X9100 3.06GHz (6MB Cache, 1066MHz FSB) [+$350 or $11/mo.] Intel® Core™2 Extreme Quad QX9300 2.53GHz (12MB Cache, 1066MHz FSB) [+$700 or $21/mo.] --------------------------------------------------------------------

Sager also offers desktop Processors in the 9262 Which i have Dual Core 3.33ghz CPU compaired to cut down Laptop CPU's is a nice benefit
Digital Storm has the Clevo with 9800M GTX SLi with up to a Q9650 http://www.digitalstormonline.com/laptoploadsaved.asp?id=215218 Or if you hang on until July when I get back to the states I will be selling my Clevo D901C with dual 7950GTX's in SLi for around $1500
sorry, i would not ever touch a dell or alienware. they are both ripoff's. the 3870's are crap IMO and the 9800m GTS/GTS 160 pretty much at par with them. as the person abuve said, if you do not mind a 18 inch screen, the W90 is great w/ the 4870x2. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220503 much much better deal than the aliencrap (refering to the price, im sure their notebooks are great quality.). malibal also sells the same sager stuff, its the clevo design re branded to a manufacturer if you didnt know. so is alienware(OCZ sells a DIY M17). BTW on sager's website its showing the quadro as sold out, looks like the 9800m GTX is in stock...
Well F*** Alienware. They have nice build quality, but I've been looking at that W90. And I looks like I'll be spending $1,800 less than originally planned. Now to wait till that W90 comes in stock. And an 18Inch screen is even better. How good of a CPU is the T9600? What can it be compared to?
the T9600 will perform almost exactly the same, or better than the E7400. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115206 you should most likely love the W90 if you get it, and it will easily hit 14000 in 3dmark 06.
Now I looked at ASUS's website for the W90 and I've noticed it has a selection of CPU's. There are 4 CPU's: T9600, T9400, P8600 & P8400 What are the P8600/P8400 comparable to? And how much faster are they from the T9600. Because if there is a faster CPU, then I'll try and get it.
Not if you are going to Afghanistan for a year and playing computer games is your only escape from reality available.
T9600 = 2.8Ghz 1066Mhz FSB 6MB L2 35 watt. T9400 = 2.53Ghz 1066Mhz FSB 6MB L2 35 watt. P8600 = 2.4Ghz 1066mhz FSB 3MB L2 25 watt. P8400 = 2.26Ghz 1066Mhz FSB 3MB L2 25 watt. i'de say either get the sager w/ the 9800m GTX SLI and E8500(please note if you get one of their quad cores, they are 120 watts wich means no battery life.) or the one w/ the GTX 280m and T9600.
