8500GT SLI - It is any good? Please advise.

I've got an idiot here (and here) who continuously claims that 8500GT SLI is as fast as 8800GTS 320MB and that he's running Crysis at 1440x900 medium-high (allegedly attributably to his mad overclocking skillz) fine. If you look at his original 8500GT ad in the 2nd link, he goes as far as to claim Crysis runs at these settings on a single 8500GT (a DDR2 8500GT no less).

Please record your comments here, so I can provide a link to him as to what people think of these claims. I wouldn't normally give a toss but the fact that he's trying to sell them to people based on these claims really irks me.

It'd probably hit "8700GTS" performance, rather.

 

8500GT....SLI...oh my, he bought two of them...ouch! You'd probably be able to play Crysis faster using a brick. Awful awful cards, and you can tell him he's full of **** if he thinks Crysis is playable (not just that it starts and you can move around) at those settings with two 8500GT's.

 

true, when i had my 8500 it was almost easier and less frustrating, just imaging i`m playing the game!!!...... still never got passed level 2 lol.......

I actually feel more sorry for the guy buying an alienware overpriced manufactured computer that he sadly couldn't buy the parts himself, built his own computer, and saved him a bunch of money and had to come here to say "my computer is better then your computer just like my dad can beat up your dead" then the guy claiming to run crysis decently on two 8500 GT's in SLI....

I read a few reviews out of curiosity when I read the utter crap he was spouting (I really lost it when I read him claiming that 8500GT Sli is the same as an 8800GTS), 8500GT is barely faster then a single 8600GT!

At the end of the day fella, some people just can't be told facts because they think they are holier than thau... Some people just refuse to be taught.

Whether they are trolling or not is something that we will never know for sure, but judging by what the guy here is saying then he sounds like a person who just cant be told his setup isn't all that great. He probably invested a bit of dosh in it and is trying to justify the purchase.

At the end of the day, a thousand people could tell him the truth about his cards but what would be more probable is he'd think those thousand people are wrong and hes right
