182.08 new WHQL out

How did you benchmark said performance? COD5 wouldn't be much of a challenge for your system, with the exception of your CPU(which definitely is a negative factor). Your lack of RAM may be a variable also.

Don't misunderstand me, I used to be a HUGE AMD guy until reality struck. From 2006(Core 2's) onwards, unfortunately, AMD can't compete in pure performance.

 

I have been running these drivers for the last 6-8 hours of gaming and I'm impressed, they boosted performance slightly in Mirrors Edge and L4D no longer crashes with SLI enabled (WOOT!). I haven't seen any crashing yet, but will post back if something changes.

So far these look like keepers (until the next ones hit), I figure all these are is 182.06 with a few new SLI profiles for newer/missing games.

 

Little off topic but I noticed that ORB thinks that my 8800 GT (which is in other computer) is GeForce GTS 240. That's nearly one year old submit and graphics card name has changed, just like that. Anyone else have this "problem"?

 

That isn't a "problem" that is simply the new name for the 8800GT/9800GT. I guess 3DMark just decided to make them all the same to cut down confusion.

 

It's the same as 182.06 for me, that is, it starts well but then it turns into a pop-fest. I think it's the drivers + patch that make it so.

 

Running at 3D clocks = more heat, more fan noise, more power consumption. I care about all those things.

My card down clocks perfectly fine with both 182.06 and 182.08, I wonder why some cards have an issue with such a simple task.

Are yall using RivaTuner to OC?

 

182.08 work just fine for a old 6800gt agp in a even older dell 4550 !!
Try updating a ATI 1950 or 3850 agp cards with new drivers , its hell :bang:
This support is what puts nvidia on top of ati !!! For the long run baby !!!

havent downloaded them yet just got home so will do but seting up new motherboard atm so might be tomorow

 

You really should read more in detail:
- you got another card then them
- Most of them use multi monitoring

What does them having a slightly different GPU have to do with the drivers down clocking? They are all GT200 based GPU's so there should be no difference between how they operate in power saving mode.

Could do the same here. Hurr. And even seems to run at the same speed etc so it causes no difficulties.

 

whats up with these new drivers...it does not save my colour settings on Nvia control panel...like digital vibrance and brightness etc.....and one know a fix for this??

let's see. there are three different versions of gtx 260 cards, 192 core, 216 core, 55nm 216 core, they have different voltage controlers, possibly different fan controlers, then there's 280 and 285 with the same issue, then you have the gtx295 which probably has different chips on it since its a dual gpu. so theres potentially a lot of different combinations of hardware that the same software needs to properly manage :bang:

add to that different operating systems, a ton of applications that trigger 3d clocks.... its a crazy world :nerd:

I dont know how thats showing up as a GTS 250 cause its not even the same device ID as GTX+.Your showing GTX+device ID with GTS 250?

A GTX+=
NVIDIA_G92.DEV_0612.1 = "NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX/9800 GTX+"
NVIDIA_G92.DEV_0613.1 = "NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX+"

And a GTS250 is,NVIDIA_G92.DEV_0615.1 = "NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250"

 

Easy, just force install GTS 250 driver using device manager. It works just fine.

 

Doesnt matter if you force it or not.The device ID is attached to the card name in the inf.If it reads GTS 250 the device ID should read 0615.If that was the case I could make my card read GTX 285 in GPU-Z.:3eyes:
