Another weird thing I noticed with this driver is that at first game profiles where there and it detected a few installed apps that I have on Win7, but then out of the blue everything vanished and it now says "no programs found".

    help me please

    hey guys,

i have an alienware m15x with the 8800m gtx installed. the driver that came with my laptop is 165.32. i want to update to a newer driver but every driver ive tried doesnt run well.

    for example:

    crysis
i can run 1920x1200 with a modded ini file with the 165.32 driver with 20 - 25fps. with the same ini file using this 185.20 driver its dipping below 10fps.

    cs-source
i run it at 1920x1200 everything at recommended settings 180 - 200fps with the 165.32 driver. with the same setup using the 185.20 dirver its at 150 - 160fps.

shouldnt it be running better with newer drivers or is that a misconception?

    Not necessarily.

If you want to, try this:

Download both the driver (182.05) and the modded inf for your OS version (XP/Vista, 32-Bit/64-Bit) from here: http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showforum=143

    Now do the following:
    1. Uninstall your current driver.
    2. Restart and boot into safe mode (F8).
    3. Run Driver Sweeper and maybe even CCleaner.
    4. Restart and boot to the regular desktop.
    5. Decompress the downloaded driver and copy the modded inf into that folder.
    6. Run the setup.exe you can find in that folder.
    7. Restart.

    Good luck! :D

p.s.: In case you're getting an error message when you try to install the driver, decompress it with a tool like 7-Zip, delete the PhsyX installer from the folder and just start the setup.exe in the decompressed driver folder...

Running XP32 SP3 and these are killers with SLI, audio issues in GTR2, GTR-EVO and GTL again , but turn off SLI no issues at all and the performance is good, also have no issues with F.E.A.R. Project Origin and COD W@W.

Hope they resolve these SLI issues in the WHQL, may need to reinstall 178.24 if not.

    @cybermancer

thx for the response. i've tried those drivers, im also registered at laptopvideo2go and i've been trying their drivers. all the drivers down clock on the m15x to 300/700/1100. with the default 165.32 drivers they are 500/799/1250. another thing, on all the drivers i have tested powermizer doesnt seem to work right. when i disable powermizer it down clocks to 300/700/1100. shouldnt it be the other way around? this also happens with the 165.32 driver. im stumped, maybe alienware has set it somehow to not accept any driver thats not used by them?

I have a later version of nvidia PhysX, 9.09.0121. Stable with 181.22. Not sure why they continue to throw old PhysX drivers in.

Maybe you should look into RivaTuner: http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=163

With this great tool you can set/adjust your 2D/3D clock speeds...

We also do have two sections just for RivaTuner, in case you have some questions:

    RivaTuner Generic Discussion forum
    http://forums.guru3d.com/forumdisplay.php?f=54

    RivaTuner Advanced Discussion forum
    http://forums.guru3d.com/forumdisplay.php?f=18

Because this driver (185.20) was leaked quite some time ago. Way before 182.05, and the current PhysX were released officially...

Don't know why but these guys suck in fo3. The cursor when in the pip-boy mode is all over the place. And the frame rate really nose dives with this driver. Since all I play atm is fo3 back to 181.22's :bang:

thats funny, im on vista32 with an 8800GTX and i keep the 185.20s because i love the AO feature in Fallout 3. 1920x1200, Ultra Settings. (No Texture Mods, only the Lighting Mod "Fellout".)

Video's played in Media Player Classic look like they're composed of a disjointed grid with this driver, anyone else get this using any mode BUT system overlay?

Edit : Scrap that, wrong thread! I'm using 182.50 :bang:

    SLI & windowed mode

Can someone running SLI test to see if these drivers will run a game in windowed mode?

The 180.xx, 181.xx, and 182.xx drivers will all BSOD when running a game in windowed mode.

    Thanks!
