First off I'd like to say I've not discussed this with Hilbert or anyone of the Guru3D, but I am interested in spending a lot of time trying to make videos of reviews or even guides for Guru3D. I do not have any experience making youtube videos, but I'm a passionate guy so I'm pretty sure we can get something decent going! As far as I'm aware Hilbert hasnt been considering because it would be too time consuming, but I'm pretty sure if he gets some help we could get something posted the next day after his review is out! Anyways I just want to know what you guys think, would you listen to them, would you prefer having hilbert as the host or if just a talking graphic cards or even my cocky self?
hilbert does have a few vids up on youtube but nothing on the scale on what your thinking about but it sounds a good idea if hilbert has time or even wants to i think hes camera shy lol.
Yeah I was thinking so too, also the fact that he might have an heavy accent But I got to admit I did not know he had videos on youtube, videos of himself or video in general ? Anyways that's why I'm offering to host since I'm not camera shy, the problem is I'm kind of far to go to his lab every few weeks to show the rig XD
Prett y good idea. It will be a lot better to get infomation for me, since I'm quite lazy and I don't wanna read
have you guys ever seen any of the vids by rodney reynolds (3dgameman), his hardware reviews are pretty good.
I think you'll find, most people prefer to read. It's easier to see graphs and benchmarks, it's easier to skim past things too. Videos for some things are OK, but generally, anything over 2 minutes people probably start to loose attention.
I think its a pretty good idea. I'd definitely watch them! (Sometimes I'm just too lazy to read, haha)
No they're not, they're awful. You might call them previews, but as reviews they're utterly useless. @OP: Who's gonna make these videos? You? You'll do the reviews? I'm just not sure if I understand your plan. I have my own thoughts about this, but I'll let the boss answer.
id love to see Hilbert messing with all the gpu cards/setups for the gpu benchmarks, more of a behind the scenes just to grasp the huge amount of work involved in keeping those charts upto date. At the same time, not many folk like being behind a cam, i know id prefer doing writeups rather than videos if i was in that position
Well I just wanted to see if someone actually care, since the response is po sitive it does look like it could be worth the effort I don't mind to cut off my immense gaming time to do video editing, it can't be more complicated then making a flash movie/game/player which I'm versed in The thing is since there isnt currently many movies from HH one believes that he's camera shy And as I stated I am not, but I don't know yet how it would work out
Couldn't agree more. All he does is show you the item, read out the marketing information from the pack and pull a recommendation out of thin air. They are average at best.
I've watched video reviews at hardocp, and I'd much rather read them. I'm a fast reader and the videos drone on too long for my taste. Now video reviews of booth babes I could go for
This sounds like a fantastic idea!!! I'll watch them. As other said, make sure the boss agrees with it.
I could see certain aspects would be handy to see the product in action. Things like fan noise would be good where first is just the ambient room then when the product is turned on to give a rough comparison. But, really, in most cases I do prefer to read reviews. Like what has been said, it's easier to skip parts and charts are just much easier to interpret on my own time.
