how is your boot setup "set up"?

do you have a single HDD which you multi -boot from or multiple HDD's?

    I have two HDDs

    ATM the partitions are

    500GB

    C: 166Gb (OS and programs)
    D: 300Gb (Documents)

    320Gb

    E: 6Gb (Pagefile)
    F: 292Gb (Document Backup/windows7)

I forgot the reformat the 320Gb when i installed win7 and when it installed (from Vista) the old files are still there (documents) lol

now when I boot, i have both Vista and Seven but I set to boot vista as default

now i want to remove the 32bit win7 and install64 bit but i dont know what to do or how to do it..help?

do i just, from winvista, reformat my 320Gb drive and repartition then install Win7?

would that mess up my booting sequence or whatever? (removing one OS that is)

I just installed Win7 x64 and im wonder if vistas intel drivers for my x38 will work with this one? Windows update installs only creative drivers for Sound card and nothing more. Anyone?

Edit: oh im talking about chipset and intel matrix storage manager.

Edit2: Inf update utility (found here on guru3d) works like a charm, but matrix storage manager gives error when is trying to unpack itself. Any suggestions?

how many times can I use the key to install the OS? I mean if something goes awry and I have to format and reinstall everything again, will the beta key work over and over again? sorry, first time beta-testing. :)

My advice to you would be to backup any data you wanna keep from your F: drive then simply insert your 7-x64 dvd you've made and start a fresh install of 7-x64. When you get to the part for choosing a partition to install to, simply delete your F: partition and remake it again. This way you'll start with a clean slate with 7 and it won't effect your boot.ini so you'll still get the choice of which OS you wanna boot when you fire up your system.

    No key required

as many times as you like until the activation period ends :)

ALSO, when users install 7 beta from dvd, they can simply hit escape at the CD key screen, this will allow the install to continue without a key. You then get 28days to enter a key from inside windows itself :)

hope this helps some users :)

If you install the 32bit version of Win 7, what drivers do we use for graphics/sound cards and so on, Xp or Vista drivers?

Use Vista drivers because those OSes driver models are pretty similar on the ground level.

Well.. I've got mine from a torrent, it's really not that hard to find (can't provide more info as torrent talk/link sharing are forbidden here, use google). Or just use a download manager so that you don't have to start over on every drop out :)

why don't you just use bittorent to download the isos and afterwards check hash to make sure it's 100% the same?
it's faster and puts less pressure on servers.

Well, ive got it.. And finally got a key too... And, since i was going to reformat anyways, i decided to just try it out as my main OS and upgraded over Vista 64

Took awhile as i have allot on my comp, but once all was done there were no issues. Crossfire and all my other programs installed with no issues. The only thing that didn't work, was my printer, yet a windows update corrected that.

So far after a few hours messing with it, i can say its fast, very fast!! if i could sum it up, id say its Vistaish, yet on some serious roids. Vista has always been a great OS to me, so this getting thumbs up is awesome in my book. MS deserve sa huge hand on this one, never before has a beta been so, well workable right out of he box. I mean for me to keep it as my main OS says allot.

And im sure, as all before it, the complaints will begin..... But for what, in the end it will be just sheer MS hatred that drives complaints as this OS is the best yet!

The only thing, yes there is something and that is my rating..... Now this is one area that needs some work, as you see my specs to the left..... yet look at what it gave me..

    Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz ( A 7.4, WTF

Memory (RAM) 6.00 GB 7.5 (ummm)

Graphics ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2 (7.9 Fuuukin a right!!!)
Gaming graphics 3835 MB Total available graphics memory (Ummm yea 6.3)
Primary hard disk 26GB Free (208GB Total) (a velocity raptor at 6.0, WTF MS)

So yeah, this system is borked..Bill shame on you!!

Other than this, great OS.... Kudos!!!
