Do they give out the keys at the same time to?
Can someone who downloaded build 7000 form many torrent sites check the iso hash?

I STILL think the official public beta MAY be a different build incorporating the mp3 bug fix.. or it may not lol

 

It won't be a different build. There will be no further builds. Build 7004 would be Windows 7 SP4. Even if it does include the MP3 fix you could just download it from the site anyway. The build 7000 that's out on torrents now is the same build from technet and the same build that's being released today.

 

according to the MS site, it will be posted for everyone else sometime this afternoon...and then their site may happen to go down from the number of people trying to get it...they had problems with the Vista RC's when they were released as well.

Offtopic..I'm gonna upgrade my 9500gt super 1gig card in the next week of so to a 9800gt since I compared both cards...Any idea or recomendations on what to go for before I choose?

No no.. I meant I got into the public beta website that everyone said they couldn't connect too. The public beta won't be available until this afternoon. I'm pretty sure technet is linked to your windows live ID - yes that's all you need but you still need to have it registered. I'm not really to familiar with technet.

Anyway, i'd just wait till this afternoon to pick up the beta key. I highly doubt they are going to go through 3 million keys that quickly.

 

i wonder what MS thinks about all the Activators and such out there already, with vista, they talked alot about piracy but i didnt notice them mentioning it this time round. good WGA cracks might come alot sooner than they did with Vista if they didnt change the activation any.

 

Any changes made to Windows activation won't be made until RTM. Making such changes now would mean that at RTM, there will be a lot more pirated copies installed the day it's released.

 

I seem to recall microsoft stating they were more than happy to use the torrent scene to distribute 7. Imagine the money this saves them....not to mention they get a foot in the door with every user who tries it.

 

Torrents do take a lot of load off the MS servers. Problem is product key distribution. Most users that get Win7 off torrents don't get keys, and thus only have 30 days to run it without going to the MS site to get a key. That still keeps the servers overloaded from people trying to get keys.

 

but they could launch their own tracker and let people get w7 iso through bittorent instead of downloading directly...there is different in bandwidth between just some text and several GBs you know
