They came in.. Few things I noticed..

These replaced my BFG GTX260 MaxCore OC SLI.

    Pros
    • They actually read the right clocks per card (had issues with my MaxCores)
    • Temperatures are the same as my BFG 260s at idle and with load
    • Speed increased enough to make me pleased with them
    • They have this wicked reflective front that looks sweet. Don't forget to peel the super thin (can't see it) cover off before you stick them in.

    Cons
    • I hate the fact there is no back plate on it.
    • Wish the bracket would have been black *grin*
    • Nothing else.. So far I'm pleased.

If requested I can run a 3d Mark Vantage at the 3.16GHz speed (stock) if you feel that the new 3d Mark is higher because of CPU overclock.

damn, i wish i had the money to get two of these.
next month, im either getting one of these, or a GTX 295.

    thanks for the review!

by the way, the red vent, is that covering the holes that vent the air? or is it just painted?

So heat is the same, Furmark only shows and Average of 2 FPS gain..what about actual gaming performance, FC2, Crysis WH, any gains? So far I don't see justification to swap from 65 to 55.

The red vent is the air exchange holes. Same as all the GTX 260's, just this is red instead of traditional black.

I'm seeing a significant jump in FarCry. Enough to make me feel it was worth it. I love Furmark but I won't trust it just like I won't trust 3dmark much. Furmark WILL not test both GPU's. Why? I haven't the foggiest. So the increase in Furmark being as little as it is, still leads tells me that in 1-on-1 the card is a bit better, but the power house is in SLI mode. If I could get Furmark to actually use both my GPU's, then I may see a better increase.

None the less Far Cry has a much higher gain then I expected.

nice improvement but i still do not see what the o.c. potential is between them.
you can see what mine run at. i just want to now if it is worth it to step -up

Yeah I'm not much on overclocking the GPU's.. My BFG's showed a degrade in clocking, and these do the same when I raise them up. My FPS start dropping considerably..

i've never gotten furmark to increase in performance from SLI, however i only use furmark because it increases the heat further then anything i've ever used, and even though it doesn't get any more performance in furmark i've found from SLI, it does test both GPU's, at least in my system, both the graphics cards increase in heat

Only thing i don't like about your tests though is the regular 260 GTX that you tested was tested with a CPU at 3.2Ghz while this new card was tested with a CPU at 3.8Ghz? granted it won't matter that much i doubt if any, still better to see end results with everything the same as much as possible

I can pull the OC back to stock.. That ain't a problem.. I'll redo the benches tomorrow and update the images with the CPU at 3.2GHz.

No problem.. I'll bring it back to stock and re-run the benches in a bit. :)

Nice , we got almost same CPU and ram :D

too bad my PSU is only 550W

I might step up in 90 days when i get it :D

I want 295gtx. Will upgrade PSU also.

for now i don't wanna spend alot.
    need the money for college

The reason why there is no backplate is because on the 65nm GTX 260s, the RAM was on the front and backsides of the PCB while on the 55nm GTX 260, the memory is located in front of the PCB.

Lastly, why would you upgrade to a 55nm GTX 260 from the 65nm version, it seems to be a waste of money.

*shakes head* I do it because I can.. Plus I test things out.. These will probably be pulled and stuffed into my movie server while I look at a 280.. I'm still deciding what to put in the i7 system. I want W/C options for video with little headache.

Regardless of the location of the memory, it still makes the card less attractive with a missing back place. It would have just been more appealing if it was still there.

Well the fact is that Nvidia wants to cut costs with the 55nm cards, it wouldn't make sense to put the backplates and waste money when it would serve no function... yea I know it looks nicer but what can you do.

So...you want to pay more money for something that isn't useful?

how much performance does a single GTX 260 216 get over my 9600GT SLi?

wondering this, since if i dont get a major increase in performance, i dont want to buy a whole new card.
