IBT recommends to execute 5 or more tests - my question is, is 5 enough? Would trying 10 or more tests mean more stability if passed 100% or will it not make a difference? Thanks
if its for the first time-I'd recommend 10 tests with all the amount of ram but to check for stability after u OC- 5 tests would be ample enough-cuz it stresses the CPU by a good length
on my striker i usually went 5 to see if it hardlocked then 20 and if it passed i assumed it was stable
I use LinX instead, but it's based on the same calculations (linpack) so it should be the same. I normally use between 30 and 40 rounds as the last check to make sure it's absolutely stable. 5-10 rounds is more than enough if you're just trying to progress your OC (testing new settings, voltages etc.)
Yup I run Linpack testing 30-40 times as well. I have had errors after 30 times before, (never after 40) so it's a good idea to run it at least 30 times overnight. Then another 24 hours of Prime95.
Maybe.. But no one gave a link. Thx for the link Death_LV. Good app.. Got my cpu 10C hotter then prime95 could. What was odd even with my cpu at 70C asus Q-Fan thought it'd be fine to keep my fan at like ~1500 rpm (it runs at over 3000rpm in full 100% performance mode) Stable none the less. Just a hot board I guess.. Even the northbridge runs at 60C all the time hehe. It actually ran cooler when I first got it.. But despite its low temps it was really unstable, then I sent it to asus for repair, got it back and it runs hotter but perfectly stable at least =)
yeow.. that is warm for the nb.. I don't think I could get my nb that hot if I shot a blowdryer at it!
