Hi guys... Just installed the ATI HD 4870 X2 , and my system is running on a 500 watt PSU :(

I'm a bit worried and not sure if it's safe to run all those specs on the left side <-----------------

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

    What about on a 700w??

I have a client who ordered a bunch of hardware.. among it was a 4780 x2, AMD phenom QC and a 600w cooler master psu. I knew right off the bat that the 600 would not cut it, but had a really robust 700w OCZ PSU lying around, so threw that in for him. System boots with the card out, but when the card is in he is saying that it isn't turning on.
All I did for him is the wiring, and he purchased a 6 pin to 8 pin pci adapter. I'm confident he should have enough power.. any ideas????

And no the card is not doa.. when no plugs are installed the fans turn on and it obviously works.

could be the 12v lines aren't pushing enuff juice or that could be ram problem. Is the ram set up manually or auto settings . Never leave ram on auto settings

Please indicate all your system specs, and what operating system you are using.

Well seams like the card is working now!
All I did was disable and enable Catalyst AI one more time.

I'll do my overclocking trough the profile hack since Rivatuner still doesn't work tough.

Just raising my hand to join the Owners Club. No o/c on my card for a while, pleased to discover the air cooling 'not as noisy as I was led to believe it would be'.

    Edit:
Moving on a day or so, the card isn't quite satisfying me the way I'd hoped. Farcry2 and World in Conflict will both crash after an hour or so's play and the frame rates can feel raggedy even though they seem fine in benches. (eg HL2, where Lost Coast benched at 196fps average in 1920 max settings)

Can one of the experts here point me at some 3rd party software to monitor the fan speeds/temperature/VPU activity?

    (Running Vista 64 btw)

    2nd Edit:
Ok, I was too hard on the card, it runs well and the FC2 crashes aren't unique to the 4870x2 by various accounts.
Still doesn't deal with the WiC crash, but I never liked that game much anyway

anybody have trouble playing films full screen *heres the fix*

i couldn't play films full screen , they were ok in windowed mode but it was just black screen in full screen, after a lot of messing about i figured out what it was , AI has to be disabled in CCC, i have 2 4870x2 so not sure if its same for one card but i thought it was worth sharing , as it'll save someone else time messing about with settings

    New member of the club!

Just finished my new build - i7 965 + Asus P6T and a Gainward 'Rampage' 4870x2 all in my trusty Coolermaster ATCS 'Black Widow' case - loving the performance in Fallout 3 and thankfully I haven't had the issues other people are reporting with the 8.12 drivers - hope everyone else here is enjoying their x2's! :)

I would say that's probably pushing your luck with that power supply. Just my uneducated opinion.
