Really hope that prices will drop... Cheapest i7 mobo was 290€ @ Verkkokauppa.

It's possible to save 100€ and get some "Cheap" 150€ ram kit but dont want to bottleneck new system with slow ram... And I forgot to included CPU cooler to that price...

mwahaha. I have been deciding what to do with my aging rig.. Now I know. Looks like I'm getting me a new processor, board and RAM. That Asus P6T Deluxe is lookin' pretty tasty...

Any chance of letting someone else try out Intel's newer platform. *points at self* :nerd:

Thats a quote from one of the engineers at intel. Plus, Anandtech overclocked their 920 to 3.8ghz, feeding it 1.5v and they didn't mention a thermal cap.

Sure you want to be an early adopter of this? Its never been a good move in the past.

    I think otherwise...

Why wait....Stuff always comes out thats better...In the end you ill just end up waiting ur whole life...

i got the q6600 when it came out, never regretted it....

Got the 8800gts 512 when it came out...never regretted it.

Got the AMD 3000 when it came out...never regretted it...

If you believe its a good choice....its a good choice!!!

I know what you're saying, but I read Intel will go down to 32nm and release more friendly desktop processors. There is an overclock limit on the technology and you cant ignore that.

you wont see any game speed increase in the near future, by that time if it occurs there will be third party motherboards that will be cheaper and more flexible. Having said that I looked at the x58 motherboard at an industry fair and that was mental, real enthuasiasts stuff.

Yeah tried it up-to 1.85v without any problems really. But you need to ask yourself a question here, triple channel DDR3 already offer such a frackload of bandwith, would you want to risk that memory by pushing volages any higher.

We got it up-to 1870 MHz (18.000 MB/sec read) without any effort, just changed the muliplier in the BIOS.

And yeah i know what you are gonna say .. "it's never fast enough". hehe
