    Which should i go for?
Something powerful but doesnt make alot of noise,
I dont mind if it has LEDs or not.
Something not too big though, And not too much out of the pocket.

Iv got it clocked to 3.4 and temps are IDLE 45-50C and on load 60 or probably 65C at the highest.
    Room temp is 23C atm.

    Just a few questions.
    Is that a good temp?
Is it safe to go higher?
And at what temp should it safely be at?

    Hi,

I just got the Noctua NH-U12P CPU Heatpipe Heatsink with NF-P12 Fan for my 9950 BE.

    http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx?Quicklinx=55PZ&SearchType=1&SearchTerms=noctua&PageMode=3&SearchKey=All&SearchMode=All&NavigationKey=0

Truly amazing CPU cooler - deadly silent and extremely effective. Its running at about 1300rpm and im sitting at 25'C.

3.4 is impressive. Im trying to get mine stable at 3.4 at the moment. I need to mess with the AAC on the cores with my M3A79-T mobo.

Try not to go over 60'C with that chip. What vcore are you running to push it stable? at 3.4ghz. Maybe you can drop it a little to decrease your core temps.

I got the arctic cooling freezer 7 pro and it is cooling my CPU very good.

+1 with the noctua: slightly cheaper here:

Manages to keep my B3 stepped Q6600 below 60*c just fine.

While running intel burn test on low stress (it would crash at a higher level)
it reached 73C , passed 2 of 5 tests and my Core Voltage according to CPUZ was 1.088 V most of the time but reached upto 1.136 V every now and again.

Even though i failed 2 of 5 tests, iv never had a single crash or problem while running on 3.4?

    Heres a screeny:

But yea i might go for the Noctua , I hear good things about that fan.
    Any other suggestions guys?

If you failed tests, then there is the potential that, under load, your CPU is writing corrupted data to your hard disks. This will manifest itself in a few months with a corrupted OS, or failing save games, games that stop working, etc etc. You want it to be rock stable on any stress test. Plus, if you do any prime95, or folding@home, then you're giving them faulty data.

He means you could run into trouble later on which could corrupt your hard drive.

You are talking about a different processor. Read closely.:bash:

Well think of it this way, and we'll simplify it, if your processor is writing data furiously to the hard drive, and accidently slips an h into a word, and does this over and over a few thousand times, eventually it will get hard for you to read a document, or open a file, because all of the h's will be corrupting anything you try to do.

Now, in real life, this is 1s and 0s that aren't coming out right, and they will make a very small difference in programs, possibly not noticable for a long time. However, when under load, your processor could be making hundreds or thousands of the same mistake per second. That adds up. And what it equals is bad data being written, data that doesn't say what it's supposed to. And if you wanna see how that turns out, then open a command prompt and spell a command wrong. Computers don't take well to faulty data, or misspelled words.

I won't be as eloquent as Iarwain. Your system is not stable unless there is no problems running max stress IBT for at least 10 passes and Prime95 blend for 10hrs.

At 3.2ghz, It passed the tests 5/5 Half stress though
Because at Max stress it just seems to stay at 68C and never end. I left it for 1 hour. Probably because i have 6GB of RAM.

How can i get it upto 3.4 and stable :(

You just have to add more voltage and better cooling. I don't know if I've ever seen a Q9550 at lower than 3.4ghz and stable, so I suggest a significantly better cooling solution.

I'm personally running my phenom at 3.2 on a http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835118019 and I really like the thing, though it is a fair pain to install.

Hmm im abit new to adjusting voltages , My last motherboard was good with voltage because it set it automatically and stable. What voltage is fatal?

On air cooling you will usually get too hot before your voltages get too high. That being said, some googling on your chip is in order, to find out a real max voltage. Mind you, this isn't usually a hard limit, it's just a guideline area you should stop at.

I certianly don't recommend this overpriced cooler that no longer stacks up with the best.

Those look exactly like the Noctua Cooler,
I might get that if it serves the same amount of cooling :)

    Thanks Infdamarvel

I would recommend the Sunbeam Infdamarvel mentioned above. The TR120E is better, but the Sunbeam comes close at a fraction of the cost.
