According to the squirrels burying there nuts early, we in the UK are in for a harsh winter....Apparently.
Which has made me think of the gulf stream more and more. And was wondering if it was slowing down, which sounds good to me as i prefer the cold.
I know us brits aint had much of a summer, and what with global warming melting the ice caps which in turn float ice down to us , thous causing the gulf stream to cool down.
    What do you guys think?

I think you've just gotten a little hyped up about it ;)

You can’t say with confidence about what you seeing right now, since it’s too early to suggest anything legitimately about the Gulf Stream harming ice.

Funny, my mom said the exact same thing a week ago about the squirrels around her house. Early nut gathering = harsh winter, apparently. I have the same feeling about a harsh winter, though it's just a gut feel.

The way I understand global warming is that, although there's a gradual increase in overall temperature, it's a matter of unusually wild swings in the weather along the way. So a few harsh winters along the road of global warming isn't only possible, it's likely. And we're so overdue, I think we're going to be seeing one this year.

20-25°c with no clouds and a cool gentle breeze is my ideal weather.

If we lost the gulf stream we would be in deep ****.

    1. We are on a similar latitude to very cold places in Russia! We are very lucky, at the moment.
    2. On average our houses are very poorly insulated. Our existing energy and water infrustructure would need a severe overhaul as well.
    3. We have a pending energy deficit, because successive governments have failed to plan for the decommissioning of our existing nuclear power stations. We could face being held to ransom over the prices we pay, even more than we are at the moment.
    4. Our roads are already overcrowded, imagine 2 metres of snow on them as well.
    5. We (as a nation) have no experience of dealing with harsh long winters.

A severe winter would cripple this country, remember the power cuts?

Well, autumn temperatures have finally hit us here. Hasn't gone above 10-12c during days of sunshine over the last week, and nights are getting close to 0c. Excellent! I hope we get loads of snow this winter.
