Hi, I have two 17" inches screens plugged onto my Nvidia FX 5200. I use the dualView option, but I cannot stretch a video on the two screens under WinXP. There will always be a "black" screen, whatever the nview parameter. I have a quite recent driver version : 6.14.11.6921 12/05/2007 I know it's possible with thise card because it works very easily in Linux Ubuntu and the official nvidia driver. So if anyone knows...
Hi and thanks for answers. Clone mode doesn't permitt to stretch a video on 2 screens, and even in this mode only one screen has video and the other remains black It's a non-free software I think it's a software whitch works with the Triplehead2Go hardware In all case, I can't believe that's impossible to have a full dual screen video under Win XP ! It's so simple with linux, but i don't want to reboot each time I want to see a movie :wanker:
There are the drivers for the hardware version of the Triplehead but there's also a software only version that is quite new. It works on Nvidia and ATI cards.... looked quite interesting but you'll have to look around for it..... or maybe I just mis-read, it was a while ago. But i once owned a TripleHead and had searched high and low for a 3 display solution without it to no avail, that's why I remember being surprised when I read the article about the software only version. Good luck
http://www.kegetys.net/SoftTH/ Obviously it's designed for 3 way, but you could mess around with it and see what happens....
divx player will span dual or tri monitor setups. you must run it in wondow mode, disable aspect ratio then expand the window manually. first movie I watched across my 3 displays was The Shining softTH only works with some direct x9&8 games. crysis cod4 NFSro st rfactor LFS mountain bike madness fear virtua tennis 3 CM dirt PES 08 TDU
As I recall to get video to stretch between 2 screens you have to check a box or option along the lines of Stretch Desktop or something like that. It makes your start bar on the left screen and the time and so forth on the right and the task bar spans both screens. I could be wrong, as it's been ages since I had dual monitors.
Maybe it's the hardware overlay as it allows nvidia cards to render video on one screen only. Try turning it off; you used to be able to do it in the classic nvidia control panel, but the option's not in the new one anymore. A lot of video player software has the option to disable it in the preferences. The option might be to enable VMR (VMR enabled = hardware overlay disabled).
Thanks for answers I made a snapshot of what's happenig when I try to stretch a video over my 2 screens : dual screen VLC did activate the overlay option, but if I disable it, it doesn't change anything. The full screen monitor option in the nvidia control panel, is to affect definitively one screen to full screen, and it's not what I want. This week-end i'll try with modified drivers ...
This feature has been written out of the Geforce Drivers. If you use an older Forceware Driver, like 169.21, it should work. I've been running 3 monitors for over a year and noticed this in modern drivers. There is mention of this in NV Readme Notes
Hi, It's my actual driver ... So I looked for an older version and I installed the 93.71, but it doen't work too I could think it comes from Xp, but when I select the extended view, for Xp it's like there were only one screen and it doesn't work too. So for me it's a driver problem, which is amazing because nvidia linux drivers can do this !
