    Took my little cammy to a race event the other day. Just to practice in partly cloudy conditions and most of all speedy camera work. Turned out not bad at all.

    Not great photo's at all but still, it's something different than stills.

    BTW repo - that last BW with the row-boat. Classy man, that could go on a poster.

    Thanks, a proper cloudy and rainy weather can offer some good opportunities for nice B&W pictures, cant wait for fall!

    This is a pic I took of Seattle from Alki Beach, just a few days ago. I know the quality isn't the greatest, but when you factor in that this was taken with a cell (T-Mobile Shadow aka. HTC Juno), it's really not that bad. Beats the hell out of my HTC Herald and all of my Blackberries.

    But yeh, the key to *lightning* photography is having a long shutter speed, which means you can leave the lens open while it records all lightning strikes!

    I used to think (many years ago) that you need a really fast shutter speed to "catch" the lightning, but seems like its the other way round :D

    JxL is right. I have tried several times, but here in the UK electric storms are not as common place as some countries, so you cant practice as much.
    I used to think that if you had a long shutter speed then the clouds would have motion blur. This is correct when there is light in the sky, but when the lightning cracks, it acts like a flash, freezing the clouds. After i caught it, i would also fire my flash before closing the shutter to lit any subject that is in front of the camera, as to not have black areas (if i couldnt frame the shot without foreground items).
    However, most of my shots were rubbish, and not fit to be displayed, lol.

    They are correct:

    F/2.8
    1/10 sec
    ISO 80

    I did not realize my camera embedded all my setting in each shot.

    BTW - I took over 150 shots that evening and only captured about 5 strikes. That one was by far the best.

    yeah.... i think that a fairly large number of camera's... especially newer ones, embed the information. Can get quite a bit of info from it too.

    I've recently spend a couple of days in Iceland. Very lovely place. Since the island is pretty much on top of 30 inactive volcano's the scenery is weird in the un-populated areas.

    Bay area in Reykjavik. Just a photo that turned out nice. A romantic couple walking the road ahead. pretty cliché when you think about it.

    Iceland generates it's power from geothermal activity. The hot air/water pockets are used in power plants. A completely green solution.

    Of course that heat can be used hot thermal baths as well :) This is the Blue Lagoon, that water has a lot of sulfa and minerals in it hence the color, which really is milky-blue. And its pretty cozy at 40 Degrees C as well.

    I really like this one. Bay area of Reykjavik. This shot turned out really great.

    Overall it's somewhat expensive yes, but not really extreme or anything. They like tourism, and did something about it.

    I'd say the pricelevel is on par with the Netherlands.
