Awesome, I'm rather curious as to what the problem actually was.

I can't dump video bios to a file on my R5xx - ATT says "not supported".

Q: why ATT is not capable of dumping bios on R5xx, and is there a chance to add this support?

If not, which other tool you know of which is able to dump vbios on R5xx?

Create a bootable floppy or USB pen drive then use ATiFlash in DOS mode. Alternatively you CAN use ATiWinFlash, but I highly recommend against it as the tool has proved unstable for me on more than one occasion.

you mean merely reading vbios in ATiWinFlash can be dangerous, or that flashing via it can be dangerous? Is vbios reading in Windows safe (won't it get damaged?)

    Ray

Atitool (tried latest 0.27 beta 4) is able to dump R5xx vbios. If you guys cooperate/share info etc, then I guess Atitool author could pass needed info how to do it (if you're interested in adding this feature to ATT).

btw: can ATT and Atitool be installed and/or run at the same time? Won't they interfere with sach other/cause interference elsewhere (= in other apps)?

He will not share anything with me and I don't even want to ask him about it. So forget about it :) Use ATIWinFlash to extract BIOS.

Installed - yes. Running - have no idea, but should works. Why you need TWO similar application running same time?

Only flashing, reading should be fine, so long as you're not reading from an HD4870 cards.

what happens when you attempt to read HD4870 vbios with ATiWinFlash?

Due to lack of scope, AtiWinFlash only reads 64kb of 128kb of the bios, and re-flashing this bios can brick the card. Only GPU-Z can read full 4870 bioses as far as I'm aware. The 4870 is the first card in history to use a 128k bios, this is due to certain values required for GDDR5.

You can disable the ati hotkey service, that will allow you to overclock but then you will lose battery life, and the video card will run really hot.

Hi all, I have the problem that it's impossible to enable GPU-temp monitoring. I have an ATi HD3850 with Catalyst 8.7. So, after some minutes of gaming my pc hangs up and thats the reason why I want to know if my gfx card is too hot and crashes up the game. So maybe that could help me solve the problem.

EDIT: However, if I want to enable monitoring with some graphs (GPU temp isnt selectable) ATT brings an "Access violation at address 0052E9AC in module atitray.exe read of address 00000000."

    EDIT#2:
http://img362.imageshack.us/img362/6933/attjh4.jpg as you can see here, clocks are at 0?? something is wrong..

    Thx

Look better what you did with installation. And check atitray.ini , may be you disabled overclocking.

    @Bhairava
If you can set Moneybookers Account I'll be glad to donate Ray for HD 4870 as in ATT v1.4.7.1211 we can see clear progress.

Ray, as I am a huge fan of ATT I installed ATT 1211 on my new PC (the one having a HD3850).
I had crashes on UT3 and Bioshock, (they use the same graphics engine). In a lot of forums they blamed creative for poor openal support. Well I tried everithing.

Just now I found some thing strange after a recent crash with Bioshock. My clocks are:
    GPU Clocks (MHz) - 1723.78
    Memory Clocks (MHz) - 53.97
    Normal is:
    GPU Clocks (MHz) - 668.25
    Memory Clocks (MHz) - 828.00

Anybody found this before? I found only one person having the same problem and he got no answer yet. I used driver version 8.6 and 8.7 now.

Nope, no overclocking, only fan control. The data is right out of ATT monitoring log file.

I tried to reproduce the problem using Rivatuner, but I was unable to get the fan control right, and I still got lockups of UT3.

I will keep you posted if it happens again.
