This was the best I got with the GX2. If I remember rightly I had to drop the mem clock to get the GPU/shaders up that high, and also the memory tended to throttle too even though it didnt artifact once u got around 2300mhz. Its worth playing around with memory clocks vs. GPU clocks.

Oh, and note - I never really stability tested the clocks below as I was never gonna run them 24/7 - only for a few 3dmark runs - so if you want to use it for 4hr gaming sessions I cant guarantee they would work lol.

yeah ive found when the gpu core is high i have at 750 (for 24/7 gaming at the minute) the memory has to be at 2200 or any higher and small artifacts occur on crysis boy was i pleased when i fed my e8400 a little more juice and bumped up gx2 clocks got rid of stuttering i can now play most very high 1920 1200 apart from shadows (high) and texture (high) at a consistent smooth framertae with no stutters ;) though what gets me is i dont even like crysis anymore lol

i read on forums some guy was hitting 800 lol so i tried it got complete lock up

lol have you seen that vid where a guy breaks his 280gtx in crysis benchmark and vantage

    @ Mike

Your probably spot on there Mike our pricing is probably **** compared to yours or how yours is balances out. I mean a 280gtx costs roughly $700-$800+ here and the 4870s are only $320-$380 and two 4870s in games and benches are better than on 280, so they are a bargain over here compared. If the 280s were more like $550 I'd go out and buy 3 tomorrow, but $700 is just over the top these days for a gpu imo especially when the 4870x2 wont cost more than $550-$600 au.

Perfect example of prices here is you can't buy a QX9650 retail here for less than $1100 yet we can buy em on ebay brand new in Canada or Ireland for around $800 AU, Don't seem to see that same type of savings on ebay on gpus though.

Yup, well you can grab a GTX now for £300, and the 4870's are around £230, so u cant really get 2 4870's for the price of a single GTX like in other places.

micketh - Great job with that score, those 9600GT's are a very decent combination for sure! Plus according to the new issue of Custom PC the 9600GT (in SLI) are one of the few cards that are actually worth SLI because the performance is broad over many games (unlike some SLI and Cross-Fire pairings)!

Phantom93 - That is an amazing score on a single 8800GT and a dual-core chip, especially when the chip is only clocked at 3.6Ghz! Keep pushing it!

Roger - I would be a little careful regarding that issue of CPC. The testing methods they used I think were a little dubious. They used skulltrial, which has been known to have SLI problems, with cards not working particularly well/scaling badly compared to 680i/790i etc. Anandtech used skulltrail for a number of reviews and even gave some commentry on the issues and problems they had.

Infact, if you look at scaling in some of their SLI reviews (on non-skulltrail platforms) and compare it to the results in that CPC test you will get a different picture.

Cheers :), not done yet expect that score to shootup. Having trouble getting the board to run at 450fsb though :O. Just wish I wasnt on VIsta, XP's always good for a few extra points ;)

Are you a subscriber to CPC? I've been subscribed for over a year now its a great mag!

It was the Guru3d review that convinced me that 9600GT SLi was a way forward. My 8800GTS was getting leggy, this new setup gave my system that extra bit of a kick up the arse.

@MikeMK, sick system as usual. You've always got somthing to make my PC else envious :p.
