Down in price? Considering how well they perform they are a steal now!The may come down to 275 but ATI know that it has Nvidias Balls ina twist so they wont come down very far for some time to come.Thsi is why Nvidia is Lowering its prices on the 2 new cards it has Because they Know that they are in trouble! plain and Simple.

Well, I'm getting one for the current price in the next couple of days, maybe even today. But it's going to come down for sure, especially in my country, at which time I'll get another.

I can't wait until I get mine tomorrow morning. I bought the Visiontek one, so I hope its up to par. I've never owned an ATI card before so I wasn't familiar with their partner brands like Nvidia's. amazing, after having owned every high end Nvidia card since the original Geforce Ultra, I actually sent back my GTX 280 I just bought, got this and pocketed the cash. ;)

Evening fellas. I have gotten my filthy hands on an HD4870.

    Early impressions :

The assembly for the cooler is alot harder to take apart due to much smaller screws fitted alot tighter than with my old 2900Pro.

This card gets HOT on the stock cooler. After 10 minutes of gaming I took the card out of my machine and it was HOT all round. These things have very minor stock cooling, so beware.

After fitting it with my water block it runs at a supposed 12 degrees idle, I thing the tempurature sensor is inaccurate bellow the 30 region. Very inaccurate. Never the less, it runs alot cooler. I've fitted it with a maze 5 GPU block and left the stock memory and Voltage regulator plate on the card with a fan pointing at it. This should suffice for most, and you don't need to buy ****ty mem heatsinks at a premium this was.

I'm thinking of getting a couple of 4870's when they come out with the 1GB versions with the after-market coolers. Preferable the Asus TOP or HIS IceQ Turbo edition. Then, maybe, follow that up with a 4870X2 when it releases. Kinda like a tri-quad setup. Don't even know if it will work with all three connected.

Nice card (Sapphire 4870) but this stupid CCC does not allow too much ocerclock and my old 8800GTS was overclocked at their max. So I can not see the big improvent now...

With stock cooler settings I felt like I get back my old Geforce FX 5800. But RBE helped with PWM lookup tables.

I am searchig for an overclock-fix now. :pc1:

Guys, its an amazing card, easily reaching the limits of it's OC in CCC. It runs hit at full load @92 Celsius.

Yes I can do that. At work at the moment, but I should be home in about 30 minutes. I can only do a stock run atm.

Wait until Rivatuner is updated. Then you should be able to improve your overclock.

Didn't take note of the GPU score, and flashed my card right after. Have it running at 840/1100 at the moment and managed to break 10k vantage.

Card is running on stock volts. Once a hardware mod is found I will be there.

Very nice. This may make me pull a trigger on a 4870x2. I wanted to wait until the Nehalems come out but I doubt I'll make it.
