Doesn't it work with the modded INF ? I was under the impression that that's the reason why people have modified the INF
There is, for G92 and GT200 GPUs (8800GT, 8800GTS 512mb, 9800GTX, 9800GX2, GTX 260, GTX 280), but 8800GT / 8800GTS G92 requires a modded .inf. Although it's completely beta, it looks disappointing so far (UT3 PhysX Mod, have a look).
How can it be disappointing? I passed from 10fps in lighthouse to 40fps. Not disappointing, at least for me...
Khameleon - it will work for your card. The modded inf's were to get the GeForce drivers to work on all cards. However, the PhysX driver only works with G92 & GT200 based cards. Please use the search facility in the forum, this question is answered anumber of times within the 177.39 / PhysX threads, and other similar threads.
No tried them guys!, PhysX dont work 8800GTX (G80) is not recognised yet! The modded divers that I have tried 177.39's with the modded inf aint all that great! They caused Crysis to crash! The new WHQL 175.19's aint much better lost about a frame in Crysis benchie! Best drivers for me, so far are the 175.16. Hope this helps guys! I think these drivers (later and modded inf) suit 3DMark vantage better for fps increase as it is rumoured nVidia are cheating again! http://www.theinquirer.net/gb/inquirer/news/2008/06/23/nvidia-cheats-3dmark-177 Later, Jonnygrunge.
using a physx card on a physx test is cheating? wow who knew. geez i thought we had physx cards to i dont know ... do physx. guess i was WAY off. they should probably change the name. just because my gfx card has a physx processor built right in doesnt mean its CHEATING because my gfx card's physx unit jumps into action in a physx test. thats 3dmark's stupidity for making a physx test as a CPU test. i bet everyone using an ageia card is cheating too huh?
for God shake, this is getting ridiculous people. Its just a stupid physics engine like havok - you won't benefit from it in any games that are specially designed for a ppu card!!!! ( aka: Cellfactor, Dark physics,...) So stop pls with this ****, because its just stupid.. And no i don't envy anybody that can enable gpu ppu support in physx drivers, lol far from it, i'm still using nvidia's last official ppu drivers 8.04, cuz 8.06 are just a leak from the web, tnx and enjoy ur so called physics in games :stewpid: edit: seems like i murdered the tread, i didn't won't to lol, go on
Well,… It looks like someone supposedly got nVidia PhysX working on an ATI (AMD) 3870 card: http://www.tgdaily.com/content/view/38137/135/ There’s no reason someone can’t do the same for HavoK on nVidia CUDA cards if true.
I have the following cards: eVGA 8800GTS 320MB XFX 8800GTS 640MB eVGA 8800GT 512MB The 177.66 beta drivers enabled PhysX on my G92 eVGA 8800GT 512MB without inf modification which is a step in the right direction. It works fairly well in Unreal Tournament 3 (with new nVidia PhysX MOD pack) which is one of my favorite games. I suspect that they are working hard to include G80 support so keep your eyes open for updated drivers and PhysX packs.
I suspect they're working hard to optimize it for the 260, 280, and the 9800 series, and everything else is just an afterthough. . . or lucky that it's running the same core. :-D
