Considering doing dual GTX 280 on a 24" monitor or simply just one. With cost not a factor (so no use posting not worth it from price standpoint or I'd be better with something else at this price), is it worth it at this resolution fron quality and speed standpoint? Will I see enough improvement?

This is definately my card of choice regardless of price, but hate to waste power and add heat when I may not see big returns at this resolution. Thanks for your help as purchasing a new computer this week.

    CPU - QX9770
    Motherboard - EVGA 790i
    RAM - 4g

Also depending on one or two GTX 280's, what is recommend power supply? Again thanks for feedback.

If cost is not a factor, why are you asking this? You simple go buy a 30" monitor or go buy a pre-made Voodoo PC with Tri 280GTX, etc for the fun of it

my 9800GTX starts to run out of stream at that res so a GTX280 should be a sound investment with great performance

Well, I can sneak in an extra video card on new computer I am buying this week, but might be pushing on a 30" (I think wife would notice that one). I do want to be cost effective to a point but know I want GTX 280. Based on tests it seemed to shine at super high resolutions but was not WAY above on the 24" (yet of course a lot better). This new computer is not exactly 'green' so far.

Thanks for feedback. Good news is if I buy one I can buy another later :)

M8 i would go for a gtx280 sli :D Just 1 GTX280 smoked every game on my pc. Crysis ran very smooth about 30-40fps with very high DX10 1920x1200 :) thrs was the odd time it went under 30fps. When my other 2 GTX280's arrive i will be able to finally run crysis at 2560x1600 :D.

So yea the GTX280 is 1 powerful beast.

What the hell are you talking about? Of the eight games tested, five showed that SLI gt280 was miles ahead of a single 280 at the op's res. If cost is no factor, the op should snag two of those bad boys and be the envy of everybody else on the block. And, op, when you play games like Ghost Recon or Quake Wars, just disable SLI for max performance.

Thanks. I know a noob question, how do I disable SLI? It may be easy menu selection but have never SLI-ed video cards but I know I play games that will not be effective. I have decided to get two as if I have the window and wife is allowing it (if you can call it that), then I will.

Unfortunately 30" is not in the cards but sure I can get positive use on a 24".

Nope, only game that you will see benefit from is Crysis, GTX280 handles everything else with ease. at 1920*1200 with AA/AF.

Yes, we all heard you. Now could you please focus on the OP's question? This doesn't help him at all.
