you can see that the card is using some system ram, now i wonder is this OS specific or a problem with the driver :3eyes:

What do you think I mean? You percieve 'Shared System Ram' to be something new, annoying or possibly a problem? and I'm telling you it's nothing new:) Previous drivers did this too.

well i think you have jumped the gun a little and didnt see that i had posted a question before which you can find here : http://forums.guru3d.com/showpost.php?p=2741443&postcount=337

and im not confused about shared system ram and certainly dont PERCIEVE it to be new, im confused at why my computer no longer appears to share any and why someone else's does appear to share.

I notice my video is shared in Vista but it is not in XP. It has always done that AFAIK, no big deal.

ah, it's more effective to post the complete question in one post I'd say;) In my case there is Shared system memory. It was there in all the previous drivers I tried and still is there in 177.39. I'd think that if there realy is no Shared system memory, performance might be low when a lot of texture memory is needed. That is, if it's not a reporting bug that appears with some videocards in combination with this specific driver. Another possibility is that this can be set or unset via the registry? It might well be the case, as all non 9800gtx, gtx260 and gtx280 owners that use this driver, use a modded inf, that the difference stems from a poorly modded inf.

thats what i was trying to find out in my second post if it was OS specific or just a problem with the nvidia driver, because i do remember my card used to share system ram but that could have been when i was using vista.

thanks for the help bozo, you too scratch, i knew i had seen before that my card was sharing system ram so it must have been on vista, i installed the 169.21 driver to see if that was different and it was, it didnt say anything about shared or system video memory period.

With the 177.35 my system shows 0MB system video memory as well.
But who cares if I get better fps in my games, and even better 3DMark scores?
As for Phys-X, it works fine with 177.35.
PS. Shared system memory is 1791MB, but that isn't dedicated to the graphics. So if you got 0 there, something else is hogging your resources.

Yes I did and since people put all kinds of stuff in their spec sig that is often not up to date or complete, it's not that stupid to ask;)

Processor: Intel E8200 Videocard: 2 * Gainward 8800GT 1GB Motherboard: Asus Striker II Formula Memory: 4GB Corsair Dominator PC2 8500 Soundcard: Auzentech X-Fi Prelude PSU: NorthQ 650W Storage: 600GB Samsung+Seagate SATA2 Case: Thermaltake Tai-Chi OS: Windows Vista Business 64bit
And see yours, bozo's and lot of other peoples as well.

Maybe you don't got some stuff in your CP enabled.
