Hi my birthday is coming up and im finally ready for a new graphics card.I have been looking around for many months now trying to make up my mind which card to buy,i am really wanting to get the 8800 gt as this card has so many great reviews and fits nicely in to my budget($200-250).i am wondering what you guys think to the cards i have been looking at? here they are- ZOTAC nVidia GeForce 8800GT AMP! Edition 512MB DDR3 2DVI/HDCP PCI Express EVGA GeForce 8800GT Akimbo 512MB GDDR3 PCI E 2.0 superior cooling EVGA GeForce 8800GT Superclocked 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express EVGA e-GeForce 8800 GT KO EDITION 512MB DDR3 PCI-Express XFX 8800GT XXX alpha dog edition 512MB PCI Express BFG 8800GT 512MB OC Edition PALiT GeForce 9600GT SONIC 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express EVGA GeForce 8800GTS (G92) 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express I know there will be mixed opinions with these cards so im just throwing them out there!! im just trying to get some info back on any of them if you guys have owned one,i havnt really looked at the 900 series but im open to suggestions. thanks Lee
if you wait a bit you can probably get a HD4850 which is supposed to be faster at around the same price. Unless you really want a nvidia card of course. Then the gt(s) is a good choice.
well to be honest cyber some of these overclocked 8800 gt's can be up to $250 and with the 8800gts been $245 im really thinking about the gts.what manufacturer GTS do you suggest? i.e EVGA,XFX,BFG. Lee
MSI has a great version http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail Highest factory overclock i have seen and great price
I have this one: EVGA GeForce 8800GT Superclocked 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express but if I was buying now: EVGA GeForce 8800GTS (G92) 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express
I have the ZOTAC 8800GT AMP edition and LOVE it! BUT if buying today, I would go with a 8800 GTS 512mb!
I like the Asus 8800GT with the Glaciator heatsink, it's a much better cooler than nvidia's stock HSF and at $160.00 the price is right. My son has the Asus 9600GT with the Glaciator HSF and it keeps his card super cool and quiet. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121224 Mine came with the nvidia's stock HSF and it did such a poor job of cooling the card that I ended up having to spend another $40.00 on a Zalman VF900 :3eyes:
Thanks guys for your comments,i knew soon as i put the gts in there that would be the favorite, for the price i think i will get the gts. thanks again lee
I have the Zotac GeForce 8800 GT 512MB AMP! and its great. The heatsink shroud has been altered from reference design to improve cooling efficiency and also the fins on the heatsink is modified. Runs at 700/1700/2000.
got the GByte 8800GT super clock (700mhz) (forget the exact name) runs REAL cool (has HUGE gold fan) and the card is SMALL (ie short) $170 after rebate
I would look at Msi http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127329 They use a Zalmen cooler on it also not putting Evga Down the superclock 8800gt does get hot if you choose that one you do want to speed the fan up using riva tuner. Newegg.com is a great place to look into about Video card Reviews. Also you should upgrade your celeron to a core 2 duo or a core 2 Quad as that cpu will bottleneck the Graphics card
i am aware of the cpu gamer, graphics card and cpu are both going to be changed, not sure whether to go with core 2 duo or the q6600 quad,i will cross that bridge when i come to it. thanks lee
no not purchased anything yet but i would really like to go with sli as my mobo is nvidia and in the future add another card with sli
zotac 8800gt vs 8800gts well from the start my mind was made up with the zotac 8800gt amp edition, the more reviews i read about this card and peoples experiences it sounds like the one to go for,i havent forgot the gts but it is between those two cards.anybody know what the warranty is on zotac?
I'm in the same boat as you & from what I've seen the Zotac definitely offers the best bang for buck (in my opinion) from the reviews i've read the difference is small, oh and i think the zotac comes with 5 years warranty if you register the card on their site within 14 or 12 days afaik
