i think your best bet would be to sli your 8800gts 640 both 96 shaders. is it 96 shaders? or 128?:3eyes:

You would have to run another 8800gts 640Mb for SLI to work, but you could run a different brand name.

    You already forgot? ;)

EDIT: To me this thread/question looked like a joke, since he started the other thread (http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=263153) to show off how cool he is and that he can "softmoddel his "sharders" from 96 to 128. He even promised a video to prove it. Of course he didn't show/prove anything and just continued talking trash. So I thought/assumed that since he knows everything about "softmodelling sharders" he does know that he has to pair his existing card with the same G80 model for getting a working SLI config. Sorry - I was wrong. Knowledge about "softmodelling sharders" doesn't include that. :(

C'Mon guys, be nice to him! He wants some advice!

Yes you can SLI the 8800GTS 640 + GTS 320

BUT first you have to softmod the 320, to unlock the extra 320 that it's missing. This'll probably give you some extra sharders too.

Now now all, no need to be d!cks based on a previous thread. The fact that he abandoned it could well be evidence that he realized he was wrong.

OP: if you really don't want to sell your original card, you're going to need another one like it. The ones I'm seeing on newegg are relatively pricey ($215+) considering the card you're getting. This advice is all over the fora, but it bears repeating: wait a couple weeks until the gt 260/280 series is out, because the release of a new series should bring about a reduction in price for older cards. You may also want to sell your card now to maximize resale value and pick up a newer card or two when the new series comes out.

OK, lol had to get that out of my system.

You must get the same card as yours so if you have the 8800GTS 640 96 shaders, you will need a 2nd 8800GTS 640 96 shaders to make it work.

It will give you a nice boost, and make your gaming rig last longer, altho, the rez you play at will also have a factor in how much you gain from SLI.
If your runing a 20" LCD or less you will not get much gains from SLI, but if your runing larger then that, it will give you more.
Also might want to check to make sure you PSU is up to the task before you SLI, if its not then that adds to the problem, because if you are buying a $200+ GPU and a $120-150 PSU, then you should just wait and pick up a better card for your $350.00, 9800GTX or wait on the GTX260 should be around that price.

The physics cards are not worth it at all, very few games use it, and when it does you still lose some FPS during the few places it works.
    hope this helps.
