Questions about AGEIA Nvidia drivers

I have heard that Nvidia are rewriting the software for CUDA but I'm just wondering what effect this might have on my card/computer if any at all?

Does anyone know when their out as someone in another thread said they were using them already?

as far as i know, they're not out... and might not be for a little while yet.

The only effect i can think of that it MIGHT have, is giving you the ability to enable hardware-based physics in games that support it. 8 Series cards and up all support CUDA as far as i remember.

i think its already in the driver but not enabeled i had a driver crash at install and on restarting install it asked me if i want to replace 2-3 files with cuda.dll in:infinity:

 

They have the CUDA beta drivers out:
Cuda 2 Beta

 

But do they actually do anything for the time being?

 

That's the question. It wouldn't hurt to download it anyway, though.

 

I tried them and Aero was disabled, games said I needed DX9, etc.

 

are those drivers actualy seperate from the normal drivers.
or are they just the same drivers but with it enabled ?

 

A friend of mine has used CUDA enabled drivers to process ant farm algorithms and traveling sales man paths on his GFX cards for a computing sciences course hes currently doing.

Although there isn't anything out publicly for CUDA physics for games and such yet, people have been using CUDA for programming/testing purposes for quite some time.

 

if i install those drivers would they speed up anything in games that support PhysX?

Please, do tell me some differences you noticed to help me decide mate.

 

i've noticed smoother gameplay and reduced stuttering in almost all my games i'm not sure what's so special about those drivers but they're awesome, ran 3 loops of 3dmark06 and been playing Assassin's Creed for a while now (an hour?) not only the image quality is clearly BETTER but performance is better too, keep in mind every rig is different so what works for me may not work for you, those drivers got the best IQ i've ever seen.

i highly recommend you guys give them a try and decide for youselves, make sure you install also the latest Physx drivers listed in this thread.

They wont do anything for any Physx games, the games need to be made via Cuda

 

yes i knew that but so far all my games are running better than any previous drivers i've ever tried and as i said the iq is awesome it's not a placebo this time at least in my case not sure about you, i haven't seen this kind of image quality since the ATi 9700 days.

 

I agree, I am using these drivers and IQ and performance is fantastic. Currently I am playing assassins creed and its running smoother and IQ is far better than 175.16 beta, which i was using.

 

Can anyone confirm that the CUDA drivers actually are better?

What about the performance compared with 175.16?

read one the posts above m8, the only thing is the CP won't be as fast as the 175.16 when loading or switching between tabs but who cares when drivers quality and performance are this good right?

 

That's odd they're called:-

NVIDIA Driver for Microsoft Windows Vista with CUDA Support (174.55)

So does that mean that the drivers I'm running now have support as well
or are their two seperate branches of drivers now in development?
This is a question I'm curious about as I'm running the 175.70 forceware's at
the moment.
