    I just got a 2653 WU today! :)

Was hitting borderline 3700ppd! I like these more than the 306x's... ;)

Should have my backup (media) rig crunching away in a week or so as well. Just ordered the cheapest case I could find, and an Evga 8800 GS Superclocked! The videocard was on for $90 after rebate! I figured...use that little card (which is basically just as fast as my 2900xt in gaming, but it can't fold ;) ) for about 12 weeks...then "stepup" to a new GT200, whatever it may be called, put that in my main rig, and put this 2900xt in the 2nd pc, so it can do SMP and GPU all day long! :)

You can get a Radeon 3850 512MB for $130 at Newegg.

And the 8800GS isn't as fast as the 2900XT; or I wouldn't believe it to be so.

I'm currently looking at getting a Q9450. However, they are out of stock everywhere!

I don't have quite enough cash to purchase it at the moment anyway; but I will in a week or two! :)

Keep it up guys, we're still climbing! :buggun:

Anyone else getting lots of 0.0.0.0 ('work unit has an invalid address') errors?

I'm using the latest console client (running four of them as the SMP client keeps locking up for me), but sometimes I have to wait hours for a work unit to download.

Well, I'm in Canada, and NCIX is having their 12th Anniversary Sale right now. They had a Sapphire 3850 512MB on for $120 after rebate, but it went on sale the day after I ordered. Oh well, I just bought this card as I needed something in my other PC...

As for it being as fast as the 2900, well, we shall see!;)

From all the couple of reviews I read, it loses some, and wins some. In benchmarks the 2900 leads, but in games it is very close. Like I said though, it'll be going back to Evga in a couple months for the GT200 (hopefully). Then this 2900 can crunch all day long.

On a side note, do you guys think an e6400 ~3-3.2ghz is enough for both the GPU and SMP clients? I know a quad is better (duh....lol), but will this dual core be enough to keep them both relatively happy? Or do you think it will just take a crap?:3eyes:

Make backups of the folder with the folding client in, and when you close it use the little X in the corner and open up task manager and make sure you dont see any "fahcore_a1"'s and if you do end the processes.

Also what WU was that (at the start)?

EDIT: broke 500k - will have to slow down on folding during the summer me thinks.

Some different work units have been downloaded to me recently.

    • Project 2665 - at 3ghz i get just over 950 PPD (q6600) (note - has peaked at 1000 but seems to average at 950~)
    • Project 4528 - P4 at 2.8Ghz gets 127 PPD

Would anyone be interested in helping me do guru3d a points per day 'factfile' or 'database' ?

All I'd ask was for times/results.

I haven't been on in a while because of school. But, one more week and I'll be on spring break!

    /w00t

I'm going to get a second and possibly third job then I'll finish my PC.

    Here's a pic of the so-far progress :

    Nice.

I just installed my second 3870. I'm in the middle of exams at the moment so had it sat waiting, but I got bored and installed it. Caused the cmos to reset and I lost my o/c. I couldn't remember my voltages so I had to stress test with Prime until it was stable again. Means i'm about 12 hours behind where I was expecting with my WUs. Doh! Atleast it works now.

Yeah right, but its down to nvidia not the standford team.

Hope nv pulls itself together soon.

Anyone using fahmon and would like to contribute to a folding speed index?

Almost got it ready for submiting results.

They aren’t really stats. I just want to make an index for anyone to use as the fahinfo one seems to be getting a little skewed after folding affinity changer has emerged. So I’ve decided to try and make a smallish database for users to predict expected PPD on various machines, clock speeds and also by client type and possibly client version.

All im asking is for input from anyone using fahmon (usually most ‘serious’ folders use it) to get their max ppd on a WU and all they have to do is verify it.

    Check the thread I made.
