Seems to work for me...
Except when i go from an OC and click default speeds. it freezes, But if i manually change it back, im ok... LOVE the fan speed. I hate the stock fan speed control.

It got to HOT for my likings., and i like it cooler than ATI/HIS does

Before

60ºC = 30% fan

NOW

60ºc = 55% fan

 

??? Seems to be another problem of 8.4 catalyst.

 

Ray can You fix the AA types for profiles ?
for some reason the one You save stays for all profiles ...

 

It is impossible! I have to check it. Is it 3D profile or Custom profile gor game?

 

Just tested. No problems with AA filter settings!But I found another bug and fixed it. The is was in current 3D detection routine.

 

Ray, i have found that if i change own att voltages settings, so the real voltage changes too.
Instead if i create a my own voltage and i try to set, then the real voltage doesn't change anymore!
What do you thing about?

 

Ray it was in saved custom game profiles ...

for example if i saved game with "Edge-detect" then all reported then "Edge-detect"

maybe it was saved correctly but reported incorrectly by ATT ...

 

I think you didn't read this thread You customs voltages will work only with hard volmode. You can not make softvolmode.

Let me check it today evening. I have checked only 3D profiles.

 

Hmm, thought I hit POST but seems my post did not make it up.

ATT v1.4.7.1173 does not read the correct GPU's temperature sensor nor control the fan on a Sapphire 3870X2. What it did do was allow me to confirm the 3870X2 IS trying to adjust fan speed except the GPU doing the adjusting is not the one with a fan controller wired to it! GPU 2 seems to be the controller but it's "Want" speed in Automatic never varies unlike GPU 1 in Automatic.

So I am guessing (as a layman) that either on the PCB wiring is wrong, the BIOS' are loaded on the wrong GPU's (i.e. GPU 1 got 2's ROM & vice-versa), or they added the fan control code to the wrong ROM image. I know at least one vendor has a dual fan design that I assume is not reference so have not gone so far as to search for second fan connector. Hell if the fan wasn't 4-pin PWM I'd of already swapped it over to my Asus Rampage Formula's 4-pin Opt Fan connector!

Re-read what i posted because AFAIK I'm the 1st person that I know of to point what I found about what's up with the fan controller thanks to the "bug" of which GPU you're reading from. So I post both to get the bug fixed and in hopes it brings discussion about the fan controller.

Since this is essentially two cards on one, is there a chance you can modify your code to display both GPU's info or at least both GPU's sensors & fan settings? AFAIK, you got GPU 1 now so whatever the fix is to get proper reading from giht GPU + current code which is already reading the other GPU, would give what I ask for.

Since no one has released a dual GPU monitor (or am I missing something) I think the true nature of the no-automatic-fan issue has gone unnoticed on the 3870X2 cards because we're all looking at the "correct" GPU which is genuinely dead auto fan wise while ignoring the fan controller-less GPU which is actively spiting out fan speed requests.

So what exactly shows ATT?

 

Simply put you are displaying the other GPU's data. I just edited my post to include that tidbit & you must have been replying at the same time!

What we have are two 3870's on 1 card therefore both have sensors and both have fan settings but only one is hooked up to fan. In automatic mode the fan speed fluctuates automatically as temp rises which is what I am seeing in ATT. My theory is this "fanless" "slave" GPU is the one with BIOS code for fan thus spiting out fan speeds to nowhere while the other GPU which has the fan controller is doing nothing.

RivaTunner & CCC both show same temp, ATT does not. So that means they are looking at one GPU, ATT another. Yes, I ran noth RT & ATT separately and then together to check what I was seeing. I'd did extensive test today & post my results in the Sapphire forum:

No. There are no way to calculate them.

 

That version has GPU temp & fan duty now grayed out/disabled even after a reboot.

My customized CCC profile XML for manual fan speed of 50% bellow shows it's the 2nd sensor & fan instance are the active ones.
