Heres somthing i found on a random BF2 forum , they say the 9900 series are on its way O_O .........CAN WE PLEASE JUST GO TO THE 10SERIES AND ADMIT THE 9 SERIES IS SH@! ? "tomshardware wrote: Three days ago we got a pdf file from somewhat reliable source, describing the specifications of Nvidia's 10-series, called the G-series. We sent an e-mail to Nvidia immediately, and to our surprise, they replied that the info in the pdf is correct, and that the official announcement about the G1xxx-series is to be held on 10th April. They did not tell us the release dates yet, but our guesses are on Q1 -09." ----------- The pdf included info on the new core architecture, not GT100/200, which is for the 9900-series, but a whole new 45nm core architecture, codename GH110 (Woah 45nm GPU, am I dreaming?) ---------- The G1xxx-series datasheet describes that it has full support for DX11, and something called Ray Tracing 1.0 (Wasn't that listed in DX11 features here Oo) ---------- The file describes that there will be five models at the launch: G1400GS, G1500GT, G1600GT, G1800GT and G1800GX2 " --------------------------------------------------------source-------- http://209.85.207.104/search?q=cach...120+nvidia+10+series&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=6&gl=us
Whereas the G92 was just a 65nm version of the G80, the GT200 is supposed to be a large hot 65nm chip, just as the G80 was a large hot 90nm one. Large gains are still expected from the 9900's, which I hear left and right about release in Q3 of this year (Which July falls in for anyone with a calendar handy). Although still considered a refresh as it falls within the current 9 generation and isn't an entirely new design. Ray tracing, if implemented, could easily be the biggest step forward GPU's have ever seen. Check it out on youtube or wiki.
Yeah, we'll find out in 8 days just how much of that has been pulled from an unmentionable place. Personally, I liked tweak town's joke a little better.
None of this is outlandish enough to be an april fool. Ray tracing is the most obvious step forward for people who want 'realistic' graphics.
what pic ? this ones? http://www.generation-3d.com/UserImgs/imgs/Nvidia/fake/humor.jpg http://www.digital-daily.com/documents/3493/asus-v9900ultra.jpg
DirectX 11 is on the drawing boards for 2011, but it's strictly an academic discussion at this point.
I was thinking the same thing! Until I see it listed for sale, I'm dubious about all these sorts of stories!
forget dx11....it's ray tracing whats making me think that it's bull**** for sure....it's impossible atm...to use ray tracing in games....
