Going to be buying this if you guys give the go ahead. I want to know if its a good choice, what youve heard and prices if you know of it cheap. This one if you didnt know what i meant http://www.frostytech.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=2221
I had one of these before I switched to the Thermalright Ultra 120 eXtreme. They're a good cooler, not quite as efficient as the TU120e but definitly more than adequate.
The tu 120 is disgusting though big chunk of metal, no led as well was after the 9700 for its green led.
I'm using the CNPS9700 on my E6700 and it works great. I have 1.4v going to my proc. @ 3.33Ghz. Under full load (TAT) I reach temps of about 64/65C, which I consider quite good. In case you didn't know, TAT pushes your proc. a full 100%, something no program will ever do. In Crysis, for example, I only stay in the mid to upper 50s.
Looks uber, and cools pretty good too, although Tuniq is a better choice or TR but w/e we don't talk about them. The only thing I would like to point out is that he's pretty noisy when above 2000RPM ( 2800 is the max ) but it won't actually go above 1800-1900RPM ( so it's pretty quiet ) if your set on auto pwm. But when it's on 2800RPM it's like a jet plane taking off no kidding lol.
I have a Q6600 core 2 quad and a XFX 780i Motherboard . do you think that this cpu cooler is good for me to over clock. Btw i will be using it for hard core gaming :banana::banana::bang::bang::bang:
...Better than cluttering the forum, I'll throw my question in: What about the Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835186134 -$27 and a ton of good reviews.
Dont get me wrong on this one, but the Arctic cooling freezer Pro , isnt that aero dynamical for good airflow in the case. and because of it's shape and how it stands out , the back fan of the case will have to bee removed because it will obstruct the airflow of the arctic cooling freezer pro
for a quad its better than the stock hsf but your better off with something like this. http://www.newegg.com/product/product.aspx?Item=N82E16835233003 or this. http://www.xigmatek.com/product/air-achilless1284.php add a thermalright backplate and youll get performance on par with the tru at nearly half the price.
