Flat, wide and open land and an airport, thats a great place for it (sarcasm). The pilot may look like the tit in this, but atleast he had back in control.

It would appear he was straight and fine to land prior to those winds kicking up... most planes are only filled with just the right amount of fuel to get from point A to point B so its either land in the wind or crash in the wind... your choice. The pilot did a good job correcting the landing for another attempt which worked fine. So I disagree with your idiot comment..you obviously haven't flown a plane before.
I've seen all these already. They were posted in some RAF and aviation forums I go on. There's one of a spitfire flying really low past a reporter, and he's stood there looking hard because it is all obviously scripted, but then he ****s himself, dives to the floor, and shouts "**** ME!" as he wasn't expecting it to be so loud and close. It's awesome. Will look for the link.
I give a 'hell yeah!' to the pilot for hanging on to that one... takes some serious control and experience to not have ended up spread out over the landscape trying to land in bad weather.
i have no idea how he manged to correct that ... he is a Bloody good pilot !!!!! do you know how hard those planes are to fly at low speeds!!!!
Sweet mother o' mercy....I swear theres a point where you can almost see the left wing dip low enough to spark off the runway. How the hell they managed that I cant even begin to imagine.
I'm sure the wind conditions in this video were identical to the other videos you saw.... because wind only goes in one direction and is always at a constant speed. It's not at all unpredictable!..... I agree with you, the pilot had to be a dumbass... there's just no other explanation
the winds on the original vid looks far stronger than the ones handled by the boeing test pilots. also, the control tower should've not allowed the attempt in the first place. anyway, i think the pilot is good but should have played FSX a little more. lol.
