ive used the mx wireless desktop keyboard/mouse combo..big mouse but very good...razor plasma LE..very nice, very responsive also small which is good if ya have dinky hands liek me, swapped that for a g7, again very nice. but most (99%) of the time its a G5, that cant be faulted. i would go to a store that you know has mice on display and "try" a few out for size and feel

    you forgot to add, "IMO"

G5 is my preference and i've had a few.

i just cant figure out what weights i prefer, heavey, light or what, i cant tell any difference in my performance either way. wish there was a performance tool to test your skills and and retest with different mouse config to compare.

I use a logitech G7 wireless mouse, very nice features lots of buttons, good switchable dpi and fully customizable.

Ive had it for at least 2 years and it was the best £90 i ever spent.

Apparently there was more recent Firmware but I can't find any places to get it?

Also, when I tried updating the Firmware my computer reset itself, although this was a while back now. :S

So would the Razer Lachesis be a better buy then the Logitech G5?

I used teh Mx1000 for many years and i must say its still the best fitting mouse for my hand.
I did get a G5 about a month ago, but it still feels cheap in comparison.

I'm also using the logitech G7 (green and silver one) had seen it as the top gaming mouse in PC Gamer magazine for years but at £80 i thought it was a little too pricey.
Anyway i think that design was discontinued and i found mine going cheap for £40 about 4 months ago:). Best PC purchase i have made wouldn't have minded spending more to get it ages ago.
It's all personal preferance but it is the most comfortable mouse and most well designed i have ever used. Right down to changing the battery pack, which pops out of the underside of the mouse like changing the magazine of a gun (too many FPS?) and swapped with the spare one in seconds as the usb recharger unit fires the other battery pack at you when u press the eject button. Then there is the logitech software and support..etc.

I could go on forever but i won't...get this mouse:)

Haven't used a G5, but I'd say the Lachesis is a nice mouse, although I guess the Copperhead would be a better choice because of its design, I love the Lachesis and I wouldn't even think about changing it for something else. :)

    Switchable between 600, 800, 1200, 1600 & 2000dpi. I've found it very smooth & leave mine on 2000dpi. Paid $35NZD(approx $28USD). Love it.

I've got the first edition of G5, with one side button. Great mouse, i really like the feature of extra weights, making it a bit heavier. You do have to go with a good mousemat though, cuz then you would really feel how great it is to have a heavier mouse, yet let it slide easily. Another thing is to set the DPI at 2000, but lower windows sensitivity. That way you won't get a too fast movement, but you will have insane precision. The same holds for all other high dpi mice of course! Good luck!

my biggest gripe is when the pointer leaves an idle.

if i wanted to draw my name in cursive.. the mouse tracks fine after the ball is already rolling.

its the pixel precision that comes from a dead stop.
the mouse is sitting on the mousepad and i ever so gently tap the mouse in an attempt to barely move the cursor.
this is when i find the mouse to be annoying.
it's as if there just isnt enough zoom/tracking going on at near a dead stop.

i could turn down the windows sensitivity a little bit and get a better grip of precision but then the rest of the movement is altered and too slow.

so for an example when sniping:
moving from one head to the next is fine but moving from one eyeball to the other eyeball is quite hairy/dull with the logitech g5.

i guess this is me asking for some kind of custom pointer acceleration.

i keep the mouse though because i like the grip and my hand doesnt sweat with this mouse.

i have only turned off pointer acceleration and mildly tinkered with the sensitivity settings.

and i think i've just given myself something to do :)
