changing your drivers to performance increases the fps but sacrifices the quality of the picture, theats how older hardwar can still play the new stuff.

i think he ment that he considers turning down the drivers quality to get a higher score as cheating :)

so come on people how do i get a 17k score :) i dont even want a 20k i will be happy with 18 k

    Just made a bench with my q6600 @ 3.6GHz
and my MSI HD3870X2 OC @ stock (850/1800)

Pretty good score at only 3.6GHz but
it's hard to get good CPU score in vista =(

I'll install XP tomorrow and bench @ 3.82GHz and 904/1900MHz
i think i will get 20k+ on the first try w/o any problems.

Wow |Ano| that is one heck of a score, I hadn't realize how impressive these 3870 X2's really were! Now in your sig you say your Q6600 is running at 3.8Ghz, are you able to get through 3DMark06 at that speed or is it not stable enough? If you can than crank that CPU up and run again, I bet you easily break 19K! In anycase great job man and nice score!

    Thanks mate!

    Yeah it's 3dm-06 stable at 3.82GHz but i want a new
windows installation before i try to make good scores, but this is a really nice score since this is my old Win install that i had my Nvidia card on.

    This is at idle.

And full load at 46-50°C so i have no heat problems =)

    *edit*
My q6600 needs alot of voltage so i need 1.55vcore in 3.82GHz, don't know exact temps but it's not that high.

Nice scores man! You can use AMD GPU tool to OC those more too. I have found mine do both cores 900 999, and it will fail when you set clocks, but it does work.

Love the new 3870x2, and it looks much better in games then dual 8800gts 640s, but in COH, it has some dips I do not like. I might just have to reinstall tonight and throw in the quad, go 4GHz and see what it will do. Thanks man!

    Thanks =)

Yeah i know about AMD gpu clock tool, but it's kinda fun to see how far i can take it before i start overclocking the card.

Mounted my Q6600 last night and was just not stable @ 4G, well with the volts that I would throw at it. Loading 1.58 and 1.62 is bios was as far as I would go. BLUFF, Q@ 3.9 is slower in all benches then an E @ 4.4 with the x2. No worries as I will be back on the E8400 tonight.

Can run the E @ auto volts 4G all day, and a small bump in v (1.43 I think) is good for 1.43 all day. Man I need to grow a set and cracnk up some volts lol!!!

That sounds right for an E8400 at stock, my E6600 at 3.6Ghz gets ~3000 and at 3.2Ghz gets about 2700 so it seems good :)
