Here is the patchscript from a chinese guy called Yaoz.
Don´t know if he is the origin, or just someone who distributed it. I have just patched a driver, and it seems to work.
Made some minor changes in the script and added the mobilty adapters.

right now i have win xp 64 installed ( due to the last patch script), but from what i have seen, it will work.

Thanks to Unwinder for originating this kind of Drivermod, Huangyao for providing most of the newer scripts, and a new guy named yaoz particular for this script. !! Thanks a lot guys.

Well the specview score is the same with the 8.44 driver as the 8.39.1.1 but I'm sure there were bug fixes with it too. A million thanks to everyone who made this passable.

I tried the script, it works, performance is about the same as 8.39.1.1 patched driver, however the selection lag and selection bug still exists .. and CCC can't be installed.

I just got my x1950 pro to work with forcing the FireGL V7600 capabilities option. Seems to work fine... not sure about improvements from 8.391.2.111 but i now have CCC installed... bonus!!

I have tried with my HD3870, but it does not work.
Should I try to patch in to FL 8600 or 7600?

What I know is that 3850 and 3870 have different Device IDs. The second script is for a 3850 Graphic card and need the newbietechFireGLX2000.rth.
Maybe it works, if you change the 3850 to a 3870 Device ID. Do you have tried to update those INF file with a 3870 Device ID?

    Hi there!

I'm sorry, I have not those script newbietechFireGLX2000.rth. I have tried to find that, but without success. :knock:
For now I have not a 3850 or 3870 and "just" a 8800 GT. I'm waiting for a x64 version of this mod and then I will buy such noble Graphic Device. I have tried the x64 mod for a ATi 2900 *.sy_, that works without newbietechFireGLX2000.rth and RT show no errors. So, I hope that could work for me, if it is impossible to get a x64 mod for a 38x0 card. But nevertheless the 38x0 series is much better than 2900 series, so it is worth to wait!
For now I suggest you read the whole thread "FireGL 8600 mod for 2900XT finally released" at http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=237273.
There you will find lots of information. And then maybe, it is worth to try out to use the option and the settings for a FireGL8600.
I have read at newbietech, that someone got it to work, but that is a Chinese forum and I use the google translation tools, so don't trust that information is correct.

Please don't forget to share your knowledge/finding/etc!

this script you are talking about is just a helpfile.
it just gives some info on the card / device id you are patching.

    it´s not necessary to have.

you should take a closer look at the files !!

the patchscripts are the *.rts (s =script)
while the helpfiles are the *.rth (h=help) files.

    Hi schoko!

Thanks a lot! Good to know, those *.rth files are not necessary. I hope CheResist get it to work and share his experience with a 38x0 series card with us.
Is there any news about a x64 mod for a 38x0 series card?

    Hi maxtorag!

Have you tried just the hand.ma file or some other heavy high poly scene?
Those hand.ma scene gives me a 1.5 second selection lag at a 8800 GT card. (BTW: same results at a SoftMod Quadro FX4000.) Those model seems to be very special. ;)

    I hate that hand.ma file :puke2:
I use my own High poly scenes with lots of nodes...and the lag is from 5 seconds to 15 seconds...such a contrast to FPS  On my 7900GS, the lag is around 1 - 2 secs.
I just use the outliner to select things and sort nodes to reference layers to speed things up, but it's really something I would like to get rid off. Especially for UV edits on higher density meshes.

    Me too! :approval:

Up to 15 seconds?! That sounds awful! Have you tried to delete the old drivers using a app like Driver Cleaner Pro or something like that? Maybe there are some older versions which disturb the newer versions. Those drivers are really doggedly. I use the Safe Mode of Windows XP and delete my drivers manually, to be sure. (if I'm testing a newer version or what ever...)

Have you test that x64 mod for 2900XT@v8650? Is there also a lag bug?

My 8800GT gives me at maya-02 50.02 fps, that is not too bad. Perhaps I should wait a little longer for a newer driver version... :(
