OK, I have a freshly built computer, and I'm having some major problems with the HD 3850, and I think it is mainly driver related.

After installing the card into my computer I downloaded the new 8.1 catalyst drivers. Then I ran 3D mark '06 and scored a 10,112. I then installed Battlefield 2 to try out some gaming.

The first time I started the game my comp crashed and auto-restarted, the second time BF2 started and worked great, and I played for about an hour with no problems. After that, about 75% of the time, my computer would auto-restart when opening BF2.

After a while I decided to uninstall 8.1 and clean it with DCpro, and install the drivers that came with the card. Now BF2 with open every time but when in game, my mouse and keyboard don't work! WTF? They work fine in menu and load screens, but not in game. And when I Alt-Tab back to windows, the computer restarts itself.

    Any Ideas?? Please Help!!!

Maybe, your power supply is the bottleneck....

Try bumping up your memory voltage..for stability as far as mouse ans k/b issues i am not sure..but when i see your computer rebooting mine did the same thing untill i bumped up the memory voltage ..Usb mouse and k/b ?

I fixed the keyboard and mouse issue by restoring to default in game menu. And I bumped up memory voltage from 1.9 to 2.0 to 2.1 with no changes.

However, the Graphics problems are continuing, and are now showing up in different forms...

I even changed to a Sapphire Radeon X1650 PRO 256MB PCI Express card and I am still having stability issues. Now in game, (these problems were also had with HD3850 just prior to removal) textures start to disappear and guns and grenades just become black and trying to go back to main menu or even pressing ~ key causes system restart.

What could this be? Is it really the Video cards or drivers? or can it be something different?

I want to burn my computer.....:bang::bang:

I adjusted my voltage for my memory to 2.2 and now my problems seem to have gone away. My Mobo's OC'ing software was reseting the voltages upon restart which is why that didnt help me before.

I need to reinstall the 3850 and give that a proper test now. Wish me luck.

    Thanks for the help!

    Problems are back.....

I reinstalled the 3850 and installed the 7.11 drivers that came along with it. Now, in BF2 some textures disappeared and turned into black and white fuzzy boxes like a TV that has no reception, then text turns to black boxes, then if I try to exit to main menu or "alt-tab" the computer auto restarts.

I tried Counter Strike Source, and HL2 and both cause computer to auto restart before the main menu even loads.

    Is this the video card?

See it's a completely new rig. Here are my suggestions.

    - Try to set the memory timings manually.
    - Run MemTest86+.
    - Could be a faulty mobo too.

I did set the timings manually, and passed memtest already.

I sure hope the Mobo isnt bad....

Don't tell me, I know it sucks to get out every thing, to get the mobo out...

Can you try it with another PSU?

in the control center, make the settings in optimal performance, also try to update bf2 to the latest version and use cataylst 8.1 and try again, also try to mess wid bf2 video settings, the resolution and texture quality so u can identify where the fault is
