    I'm thinking about it. Well, right now, I may wait for Crysis' launch, then buy both the game and the card together. By then the GTS may be out, and I'll compare apples to apples by then. Unless somebody bundles Crysis with one of the cards, they may do that as a special.

    har har! Luckily I just recently bought an eVGA 8600GT, and was hoping to take advantage of the step-up program, w00t! I cannot resist getting this card right now.

    Ha ha nice 1 m8, my wife was watching when I ordered an eVGA superclocked GT, I didnt tell her there was cheaper versions, I am going from an 8600GT like you so it should be a good upgrade.

    haha it is true, but I didn't wait, I'd rather get something in this price range rather than what that card will be.

    Is the difference between the eVGA Standard/Superclocked/KO and SSC versions that the latter three are guaranteed to do their specified speeds?

    But at the same time, there is the possibility that they could all OC to the same top speed?

    there is little if any difference in the cards, most will clock to the same speed.

    The factory OC'd cards are tested and guaranteed to run at those OC speeds and then set to run at those OC speeds. Regular clocked ones aren't tested and guaranteed to run at stock speeds.

    That's the only difference. You can OC a regular clock ones to factory superclocked speeds, but they can't guarantee that it'll run at OC speeds.

    For example, you bought a regular clocked card and find that it runs unstable at 605/905, they'd say, "You're outta luck. Run it at clock speeds or buy the superclocked ones."

    It won't void the warranty (at least not with evga) if you OC a card, they just won't RMA a card if the only reason is that you got an unlucky non-oc'able card.

    I will most likely wait at least until mid November to see if the new GTS comes out.

    From what I understand, the ONLY upgrade that's going to happen to the 8800GTS is that they will have their pipelines upped by 16, bringin them from 96 to a total of 112 pipelines.

    GT = 112 pipelines
    GTS = 112 piplines
    GTX/Ultra = 128 pipelines

    It's still running the same 90nm gpu, 640mb, 320bit bandwidth, PCI-E 1.x, no HD-PureVideo2.

    The GT will have the faster core clock, HD-PureVideo2, 65nm gpu, and PCI-E 2.0.

    I'd like to see a h2h test GT vs. new GTS.

    New GTS is true but whether it will be based on G92 or G80 is not yet known. Unlocking the remaining sp's on the G80 while keeping the bus at 320 would probably make the card perform better than 8800GT and avoid heat issues without making the GTX look obsolete. I doubt there would be much of a noticeable difference in performance with the GTX but the boasting factor would at least remain.
