This game was one big BSOD for me and I got 12 gigs sitting on the hard drive waiting.:cussing: Anyone managed to run this game on xp with an nvidia card??? (and which drivers) thanks!
I donĀ“t think is just this game, I have really big problems dealing with games under unreal engine 3. I have crashes almost all the time with Strangehold, Bioshock and MoH Airborne, I am using a MSI 800 Ultra OC, but I have to underclock it to play these games without problems :S
Asus a7n8xdeluxe with 7900GT and 163.71 been having a nightmare with this game get lines and flickering all over the place have not overclocked anything 94.24 were far better think ill go back
can someone plz help , i got the game but it reboots when i load a new game tried three resolutions , three drivers (162.18 163.69 163.71) , plz help asap
I was unable to get it to run on my setup with 5 different drivers tried using my WinXP SP2 install, which is about 2 years in service. No (unsolvable) problems with other games during that time. Stranglehold would start, but upon 'New game' hangs forever on 'Loading...' with 100% CPU and Retail-Stranglehold.exe not responding. No BSOD though. Edit: Oh, forgot! The SP part would not start;..but the MP part just fired up fine on XP also. - Next, suspecting underlying unknown problems, took an new drive and installed an fresh XP SP2 with all relevant drivers and updates. Same error, not loading. Odd. - Tried on my second machine, which only slightly differs (Opt170, NForce3 MB, 7800GS+) same error. Ehh? Now thats some *serious* error with either the game or anything on my PCs preventing it from finally loading. - Wipped the fresh XP install, installed Vista, installed Stranglehold and played it from beginning to end in one sit;..not one single crash, hickup, else. Okaaay? Good performance too with 163.71; Vista 32-bit. - 'Games for Windows', huh? Nah, I'm not switching yet.
I've been able to run stranglehold with 163.71 and 163.75 drivers in XP both run perfectly I think why ppl have probs with games maybe its due to OC their systems
Agreed. I did not try it with an lower O/C or nominal settings(XP), and it could be related...(every other game..a LOT..running perfectly) ...however;..how come I did not change hardware settings, but it ran without any issues overclocked on Vista? Shouldn't this have exhibited the same problems? Well, it's not the maximum O/C, this PC is capable of; I like stable operation, of course.
Im just going by personal experience, when I push my system beyond what it can handle I experience probs in games now wheather they work in vista and not in XP i dont really know but theres alot of variables here..
