Unbelievable, nevermind the fact that Svastika dates back to Stone Age and symbolizes good luck, the fact that Hitler used it for few years now makes it sign of "EVIL". Idiots, that's it, when I build my house I'll make sure it looks like Svastika from sky, just to piss morons off.

That's pretty funny. Good to know peoples taxed monies are being well spent. I have to ask though - didn't they think of that when they built it?

 

I think it's an offensive symbol, regardless of it's previous meaning.The *****'s ruined it, and the losers who wear it today only do so to antagonize.
The Navy no doubt had a blueprint of the building before they built it, and the fact that it wasn't caught (by more than one person), shows stupidity on the part of many.

 

Satellite and aerial images weren't available to the general public back then, so they probably never even considered it.

 

Suprisingly this showed up on 4chan.

AFAIK the swastika is a symbol of good luck used by budists and pagans. This complaint is based on pure ignorance. The building isn't black, on a white circular pavement in a red neighbourhood, so really, there's no problem here. Some times it feels like I'm living in a world of 13 years olds.

 

Yeah, but like - how can they not have realised?!

As Palerider said - they must've had the plans when they built it...

 

Read the article, they realized but didn't think anybody would care.

 

Even if it was an oversight on part of the Navy, as a taxpayer I don't want to pay for the government's stupidity one way or another.

A swastika is just a good shape for some things. If you want four "L"-shaped buildings in as small a space as possible, the best way to get them to fit is with a swastika.
