Using AA at higher framerates in XP may have a bit to do with it. :)

Until a game that NATIVELY uses DX10 is released, Vista is going to stay far, far away from my hard drives.

I don't care about AA, nvidia can fix it any time they like.
But, guess what? UE3.0 uses dx10 natively.
Anything coded in dx9 is done by devs only.
you people are the reason every one thinks vista is terrible. When, really, its not.

    Hi,

I have try force AA by using dx9 mode (put -dx9 in shortcut) and forcing it with x16 mode...

I have last beta drivers for vista, AA works when forced but i got this texture bug:

    http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/5553/bioshock200708211658521qj7.png

Some texture are also white and ugly when i force AA and i got sometimes black squares on screen...

Those who have dual booting (XP/Vista) and are stating XP is yielding better performance, need to take a look at their RAM situation. It seems to me that the people moaning about Vista only have 2GB of RAM. Like I've already said, 2GB of RAM on Vista running high-end games ain't no good! Bloody hell, BF2 on XP needed 1.5GB+ to run smooth, and XP could sit on the desktop using less than 200MB of memory; Vista can do 1GB of RAM idling.

Others and myself, who have 4GB+ of RAM, are experiencing no problems with performance. My rig (Vista64bit), with superfetch enabled, runs any application perfectly, with outstanding performance thoughout. No stutters, freezes or slow-downs, a completely smooth experience.

I remember the amount of people who hated XP, saying 98SE was the ultimate OS. Vista is the new OS like it or not, and it will be the OS of choice soon. I'm not a fan of change but Vista is a good thing, so is DX10.

Runs fine here on Vista x64 with Superfetch disabled and "only" 2GB of memory. No stuttering, no hiccups. Everything else runs well too, I found Superfetch was a waste of time in my case and have noticed generally better gaming performance since I disabled it. Bioshock runs quite literally perfectly under Vista x64 and XP x86 for me with zero issue. It's like a breath of fresh air to get a brand new game and it just works amazingly well straight off the bat. :)

Installed the demo and it seems to work pretty well except the audio.
The sound stutters & crackles like crazy.

Is this a common problem or is it just my bad luck?

I was getting the black squares when forcing AA through the control panel.
I had the AA set to 16Q, once I set it to 16 or 8 it seemed to work fine.
Not sure if the 'Q' bit was causing a problem or what.

I don't think the Q is the problem because i have try all AA methods and all get a bug with black squares and white bugged textures... :(

    Any idea?

Sorry, I just re-read your original post. I'm using XP not Vista.
Have you tried changing the transparency AA settings?

I do :(, i cant get net connected until mid november, arrgghhh feck.

Played the demo last night, excellent, some parts scared the bejesus outta me, it seems that events arent scripted, e.g. was in the toilet and some guy came barging out of the jax, but when i played it again later that never happened, anyone else notice that?

If you read further on I may have been wrong, as in not running in dx10 mode. I havnt tried again since, as I've uninstalled the demo (wanna wait for the full thing now, as if i play demo anymore suprise will be ruined ;)). I have no idea whether AA works in the full version of the game. Getting mixed messages. Some say yes and some say no...

hmm, strange, must investigate that, i played it 3 times, he only popped out once, cos i was ready for him the 2nd and 3rd time.

Damn i really cant wait to play the full game, but wont get a chance until 2 weeks on Friday when ill be back from vacation, but still well worth waiting for

I've gone through the demo 5 times now and he has jumped from the toilet 4 times and not once. The last time he never appeared at all, I have no idea what's so interesting in that cubicle that he wouldn't leave. I was already to electro-wrench one-two him as well.

Just a quick question is the shotgun in the demo at all? I have found buck ammo on a corpse.
