on that it says it has hardware accer support. Since its based on the oxygenHD many people dont belive it. I think it might be possible. if any one has it. besides some review site saying it supports openAL. Theres only one way to find out. to clear this up.

Test it with quake 4. Quake 4 supports hardware openAL only. See if it sees openAL support on your card. Or if you have vista. test a openal game.

If it does then it does support hardware accer, if it doesnt then either asus is bsing. Unless it does and just not openAl in hardware support.

Must be a misprint. How can you have hardware effect acceleration when there are no actual effects on that chip? This card supports OpenAL as much as another 8788 card does. Which is Generic software support. That is the way I understand it.

yea thats what i thinking too, unless they have two chips on it. or some how modded the cmedia chip to do it. thats why i hoping some one that has it, test a game with it to make sure.

Because the card has another chip for that DRM thing to go around that. thats another reason i wonderinging.

DirectSound 3D Hardware is an API extension for DirectSound. It does not mean hardware acceleration. It is thought for as extension for hardware acceleration. But like the manufacturer it uses is left these. All manufacturers own software renderer are tied up at the DirectSound3D hardware API.

All CMI8788, or Envy24(HT, PT, etc) soundcards announces DS3D HW compatibility. However behind this feature are always it does a software renderer. (QSound QEM on Envy and Xear3D on CMI cards)
These controller do not offer a hardware acceleration.

DS3D HW is only a softwareinterface part of this api. And correctly Windows software (games) can use DS3D HW with this soundcards. But this is not a hardware acceleration.
