Get a B3 now, wait for a G0, or a wonderful E6850 after all?

I think my Speedfan reading are screwed up, my motherboard in the BIOS shows my Q6600 running at about 38C at Idle while speedfan shows it at 48C...Think I will discard the speenfan reading.....

    Try this.

*Scroll down to "RightMark CPU Clock Utility (RMClock)" download and install and select monitoring.

    Enjoy.

When exactly will quad be useful to YOU ? There are only professional areas today, that benefit hugely from Quads...operations like video processing with large data shifting, decoding etc.

no games will use 4 cores well this year, is the rumour...no game review saw game fps increase with quad yet !

C2D oc's higher than Quads, less heat...same cost..why bother? want a faster WinZip unpacking time ? go ahead !

but, maybe in a year quads work well with updated software..but at that time today's 2.4Ghz might be pretty old/slow, 4Ghz waiting? U cannot use quad@2,4Ghz then ! LOOOOOOL !

Well im upgrading to Q6600 because once ive upgraded i dont plan on doing so again for at least 2 years, just like i have done with my Opteron, im not into having the latest and greatest and wasting money. im pretty sure ill be laughing at you in December when i buy a 9800GTS the correct card for DX10.

I don't know how many of you are using Vista; but, Vista uses all four cores while multitasking. You're going to see benefits in everyday computing with the Quad.

    Wanna trade? I didn't think so. :(
My B3 stepping was okay at first; then I messed around with the O/C parameters and the temps shot up 13C after I rebooted!
I went out and picked up a Freezer7 Pro and the CPU is better than it was. At least it's mostly under 40C at idle.
You should be getting some pretty good temps on the "GO". ;)

UPDATE: After a few days, idle is at 35-36C.

Well, why don't you get a mid-range C2D, such as the E6750, and stay with it utill the 45nm Quad-cores are released? The 45nm's will blow everything away with that high stock cloks and OC capacity.

    It's just my opinion =)

By the way, I did this. Just waiting for my motherboad to arrive!

It just that the price and performance + overclockability of this Q6600 are awsome be it B3 or G0 , the new 45nm Quad-Cores will be most likely expensive , for $269.99 I get to overclock my Quad at 3780 totally stable http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=227125

    ;)

Well, that is definitely a good argument! :)

I wish I had one of these Q6600! But I'll be very happy with my E6750 as well - it will be a HUGE upgrade!

BTW, my E6750 is G0 too

I hit a FSB wall at 461 with my G0 E6750 (2.66 -> 3.7Ghz) before I hit the actuall potential of my chip. Pretty miffed to be honest.

You are abolutly correct my friend , SLACR its G0 and SL9UM its B3 , mine its a B3 , batch# L652B307 , Pack Date 06/22/2007 , But no complaints here on my B3 i got a good chip and overclocks like a charm equal to those G0s overclocks.

    Good Day.
