As for you all dissabling UAC, well, it sure did save my system from a nasty worm that had infected my former work place.

Sure it can be a pain but it is there for a reason.

@ VultureX: I installed the SDK but there were no 10.1 demos shown, only many for the normal 10.0

Could this mean that Vista is worth using yet? Constant driver errors havent filled me with much hope in making the switch!

I think it would be appropriate to change the title and first post of this thread.

With the permission from whoever it is that makes these calls i suggest we keep updating the thread or make a new one. Change the title to say something like "Vista hotfixes" or whatever. We can then post all new links, and have the list of files and KB articles. There should be a clear and concise warning about what not to post, such as links to sites with illegal content and so on.

I don't know what legal issues there are. It is after all just some hotfixes, although im not sure about the hosting of files. However i would think the responsibility would fall on the people actually hosting the files and not sites that only link to them.

It may likely have to do with some dependency on enhancements that the service pack will bring, like the kernel update for example.

something a few simple hotfixes can't provide ;)
It should have been obvious all the time, since we've seen that the version number hadn't changed...

Installed the files from Guru3D. Even thought the expanded folder stated 32bit the files inside them were for the x64 version of Vista.

2 files and was able to install one after the other without needing a reboot and UAC only queried my once for each file.

Results are good so far. System is stable, networking is setup on boot into desktop not like before where you had to wait a little while for Internet connections over LAN to be recognised. GUI is definately snappier as well. Programs seem to be a little bit snappier as well. Definately an improvement.

Now that I have set my DVDR on the right IDE chain (Secondary Master) I am finding it more stable and not throwing DMA problems in my face which it has been doing for Vista and Fiesty. Much happier now.
