an i just bought a laptop w/ 8600 coz of dx10 support for the future not knowing about this scandal(i don't have problems calling this a scam). Let's sue these basdards ...j/k

there are really tons of people that flame on vista just nothing. it is really bad that people with XP cant run DX10 if there is a doable way to implement it. On the other hand, it is like SM2.0 vs SM3.0 wich forced me and a lot of people to change video cards because game developers didnt make posible to SM2.0 in their SM3.0 games. That is bad as well and almost nothing complains about as hard as people that flames on vista because of this. DX10 apart Vista is great and better (not by far really, but better at last) than XP in many ways. The only thing i can say is screw the market and screw companies that forces us to upgrade when it is not necessarily needed as with shader models....
hey i totally understand what u r talking about. My friend has a x850pro and he can't run rainbowsix vegas because his card is only cabable of shader 2.0. It is too bad we have to go by their rules.
Since 2.0 and 4.0 it's been like 4 years. If people can't afford to upgrade a video card once every few years, they should buy a console. I'm staying away from DX10 until 2nd gen cards come out.
Considering how beautiful the upcoming DX9c games are looking in live action, such as Crysis, HL2 ep2, CoD4, Assassin's Creed, Unreal 3, etc why do we need DX10 all of a sudden??? pft! XP Pro and DX9 for me for at least another year.
There was a backport being worked on for dx10 for XP, but it relied on the cpu to emulate the dx10 effects. I'll have to find the site, but it's kind of sad that people just can't move on...It's nothing different from moving from the first windows to the next, then the next, then the next, 95, 98, 2000, me, xp, now Vista. I do think that Microsoft could have coded dx10 in XP, or some of the effects atleast, but the problem with that is could you code everything in XP and manage it like you could in Vista?
Vista will be a good OS eventually, but not today and honestly not this year. I think 2008 holds more promise for Vista. Give it a break and give it time.
vista works just fine, i dont know why everyone is complaining, works like a charm...........stop saying what you hear and try it for yourself, these stupid websites say vista sucks, and everyone like parrots says vista sucks, try it for yourself and i bet you will like it as well.
It's called the Alky Project and there are tons of blogs and information about it. It's in the Alpha phase currently and hopefully will be completed in the near future.
That Alky Project is nothing but a way of tricking games into thinking XP is Vista so it can play Vista exclusive games like Shadowrun and Halo 2. I hope Microsoft sues them out of production as soon as possible.
em no they are also rebuilding dx10 libraries for xp. theyr project to play vista only games on xp is not yet finished. someone else already cracked shadowrun and halo 2
