    I'm still getting delays in CoD2. Like, shoot once, the sound comes later.

    Then you need to open the dsound.ini that is in the game's folder and change a couple settings from the default,

    Buffers=4
    Duration=25

    Then again it also tells you that in the included help files,

    Your post truly helped and made sense, also this would probably explain why there was no sound when this is applied to a game that doesn't need it.
    I had no idea what type of sound BF2 used so I thought I would post my result.

    With you clarifying this to me you have supplied me with a resolution to maybe a simple answer for most of you ,but to me I rely on all of you that have more experience and advise to get my games sound the best.

    Thank you very much.
    Thank you too for the link ,as I'll use it to check out other games that might be able to take advantage of this.

    Thanks again , Gumby

    You're quite welcome. Now if you want to improve the sound of BF2 you can update the OpenAL that comes with the game. Go into your Windows\System32 folder and locate and make a copy of wrap_oal.dll. Put the copy someplace else and rename it to BF2OpenAL.dll. Next go to your BF2 folder and make a backup of the original BF2OpenAL.dll and then replace it with the renamed one.

    And no you won't get kicked by PB for this.

    its a damn **** when you shut down your pc, than another day you start it to work with and there is no windows start sound because of kskskskkskssssssssskkkkkkkkkssssssssssssskskskkskskskssss

    you have to install your sound driver first again so it gets away.... and thats on almost every start or reboot, thats not funny at all mate...

    thats :puke3:

    lol nope, but now it seems Sword of The Stars: Born of Blood is crashing when alot of sounds are playing at the same time, only when having alchemy activated for that game... That sucks.

    Well just for fun I added 3DMark03 to Alchemy and copied the two files over, and now my card is detected and runs the sound tests. Before using Alchemy all it ever said was "Not supported".

    I think certain X-Fi have trouble with certain Asus boards for the guys with ksssssskskkksksksksssss. See if there is a bios update. I am pretty sure I heard about one for certina boards. It may help.

    thx for the info, will look closer into it. there are more than 4 new bios updates since i bought the board i think. maybe it really helps, but the only think i read about the new bioses logs, is, that there are now more cpus supported and ram compatibility is given. nothing about sound...

    anyway i look closer about the newest bios, we will see.

    Has nothing to do with sound it has to do with how the mobo addresses higher level memory. Hopefully, they fixed whatever the issue was with the addressing... You should always keep your mobo updated anyway.
    BE CAREFUL.....

    I'm a bit of a noob with X-fi cards, I only got my new PC yesterday, How do you run X-Fi in Game Mode?

    I tried Oblivion last night and I only have sound coming from the front speakers.
