Just make sure the fan spins freely, you can tilt it towards the forward edge and bind it against the cards plenum. Closer towards the artsy bit (sticker/metal thing) is a great fit.
perfect fan to sit on the back of the card as it has stand off's built in, used to use it on my old 9800pro, a bit of blu tack to stop it vibrating off and jobs done
I run my 8800gts 640 fan at 60% via rivatuner in normal use, it's nearly inaudible. With rivatuner I have a hiperformance profile which kicks in the fan to 100% and the overclocking of mem and core also. I also have a very powerful Antec tri speed 120mm which blows air in from the front directly on the card, 100% speed also when gaming. Works so far load temps of 69 to 70 celsius. Have yet to try any mod, ghetto or "normal":megaman:
My 8800GTS fan is running at 100% all the time. I have done this in the past with my 6600GT and my 7600GT. Not once did the fan stop working. Actually, I have never had a broken fan ( gpu/cpu/northbridge/case ) in my life.
i run my 8800GTS at 83% fan speed which is the point where its just as loud as the pc and doesnt louden the pc up at all. i run 100% in games i dont need to but i like cool components. i have my thermaltake extractor fan coming this week also
Vote For Sticky.... This tread should be merge to the Sticky tread named NVIDIA overclocking, tweaking and cooling. But I vote for a STICKY alone on this tread. Any MOD please this has been a very helpfull guide for a lot of us ,please make it a sticky . Good Day.

yeah i cant believe that the 88 series card are out for some time now. Yet the only decent Aftermarket air cooling is the Thermalrite. Whats going on with the other companies there is a mass market out there looking for better cooling besides going on water. Could it be that the reference cooler is better good already and the after marketers cant come up with something better on air ? ..... Well i can believe its been so long and only Thermalrite offers air cooling solution for the 88 ......
i've simply changed the auto fan profile in low level settings within rivatuner to make the fan speed up more aggressively than it does by default. with the standard auto fan settings, on my setup, it doesn't start increasing the duty cycle (above 60%) until the temp hits around 80C. with my new settings (carefully chosen and tested after reading ADT7473 specs), it starts increasing around 74C and reaches 100% duty cycle at only 77-78C. for reference (on EVGA 8800 GTS 320MB): Auto fan speed defaults: duty cycle min: 60 duty cycle max: 100 T min: 72 T range: 32 T operating: 82 T low limit: 72 T high limit: 92 My custom settings: duty cycle min: 60 duty cycle max: 100 T min: 64 T range: 10 T operating: 70 T low limit: 65 T high limit: 75 (note, you can't read these values as straightforward degrees C parameters because the ADT7473 auto fan controller has a reasonably complicated duty cycle algorithm which involves other non-tunable parameters)
YES That is what I am waiting for!!!!!!!!!!! Unfortunately only one store in Sweden carries it! When the price drops I will get one...
