motorstorm is defianlty the better looking of the 2 , but this is still good and good for pc owners to finally get a half decent port that runs smooth (mind you every port has ran smooth for me )

    starforce :(

i noticed this too with the protect.exe file in the DiRT folder... is this still the same starforce "can possibly screw up your system" starforce of old, or is it less intrusive these days on Vista?

the demo seems good -- nice visuals, runs smooth, not convinced by the car handling yet, but will be happy to tweak settings once the full game is released. so far DiRT seems really promising and fun :)

Seems to be real fun, graphics are top. Playing with logitech G25 and it works quite well. At 1280x1024 4AA 16AF all settings maxed I have 40fps pretty stable so i'm satisfied with performance as well.

I found the optimal setting for my system (solid 30fps, 1152x864 resolution). It still looks really good:

I just played it some earlier.

Graphics are spectacular. Looks very smooth, and like others say- the motion blur isn't noticeable. Driving physics, while not as realistic as Richard Burns Rally (best rally sim ever), seem to have a healthy balance of sim vs. arcade.

Runs pretty well on my system, no hiccups. No need for antialiasing since there's so much HDR+blooming.

you probably need to turn a few of the settingd down abit , i mean know one is getting really high frame rates but 7fps is pretty poor , i get around 30 try it on high instead of ultra

    if i run @

    1280/1028,
    2xAA,
    16xAF
+everything else set @ high-ultra i get 30fps but game dont look good on a 1680/1050 if their run at anything less than 1440/900

I ran the demo in xp 1680x1050 at ulta setting and it runs fine 40fps except for the buggys then it runs like a dog 17fps.

Tried the demo in vista 64 and it sucks big time. FPS are way low for it to run smooth for me.

Interestingly I have been monitoring my temps for cpu and gpu. The CPU is way loaded with this demo, but my 8800gts is doing next to nothing. Hardly any temp rise atall which lead me to think the demo is not optimised to run on my card. Anyone else notice this? The Demo seem to be using more of the cpu than the gpu.

not to impressed by these new demos coming out and only getting around 30fps. Thought these geforce 8800's would cope better than that.

Yep, it just tippping the game to not run nice in Vista 64. Surprised the game runs at only 30fps though, but i guess its probably a port like most things these days?

Maybe time soon for a core 2 duo? My AMD x 2 seems to be getting abit weak now.:approval:

smooth as butter at 30 , racing games dont need high fps , its only really RTS's and FPS's that need sky high frame rates

this game has to be very cpu dependent...just my luck:)..anyway it runs pretty smooth now...hope they will optimize it a little bit after releasing it

Wow, on high end PC it gives only 30 odd fps  but it requires faster cpu as well, here are system requirements :(
