    Cool, thanks. :)

    EDIT -
    There's no way to do this without going through the process of saving in paint, then uploading to a particular website I use, then copying the link and pasting it in the post, is there?

    By seeing those 7800 GS scores, I start to be afraid by upgrading, my 7600 GT can do 3239 in '06..

    I'll wait a bit for price dropping I guess..

    Yeah but there's a big difference in 3200 and 3800. That machine up there is actually 30th at Orb for machines like it; machines with similar setup but with the same model - 7800GT - card. Also, my rig isn't overclocked in any way. All settings are default or auto. If I were to OC, I'd get significantly higher scores like most of the other people who are reporting scores.

    EDIT -
    BTW, I am investigating getting a couple lower line cards for my other rig. That's a pretty decent score and is that SLI or single? If single, a couple in SLI ought to be fairly powerful.

    Thanks

    7800GS' dont have 24 pipes. 7900GTs+ do.

    3dScores dont say anything for gaming, i get 30k in 3dmark03 SLI with one card i got 20k last time, playing games its like +5 FPS, but you can run higher resolutions and keep the same FPS
    My 6200 got the same score as my 9600PRO, but the 6200 killed it in games.

    3dmark scores are like horsepower, having alot means something, till you actually race, EVO's are faster than Skylines, but Skylines have twice the horses(I'm talking both stock)

    whats holding me back?

    Im running a epox via chip board stocked with an AMD fx-55 at 2.8ghz, 2 gigs of ddr400 ram, sufficient air cooling and a BFG tech AGP 7800gs running at 537/1544. My 3dmark06 scores cannot seem to break 3500. its overclocked more than most cards that i've seen, and some cards that are running lower clocks beat my 3dmark06 scores to the ground.
    I'm upgrading to a asus sli delux w/a 7900gs soon, but I just can't figure out why my trusty agp system cant cut 3500 in 06.
    any suggestions? or anyone know why my card isnt performing so well?
    I can give more specific specs of my system if you need to know

    Update your profile here is a comparison of what Im running....

    Forceware XG 86.63
    3.40E @ 3.73 5:4
    266x14 @ 1.41v
    3-3-3-8 @ 2.8v
    XFX 7800GS XXX
    PowerStrip 3.75
    5.70.02.39.68
    507 \ 1560
    3DMark06
    Score = 3931
    SM2 = 1713
    SM3 = 1703
    CPU = 1085

    If I go any higher on my GPU memory or core clock I start to loose performance in 3dmark and it goes way down. I dont get artifacts if I go further just slower performance my numbers drop alot if I go to far. More than likely its just throttling a little bit even though you are probably not reaching the throttling limit. Its just not able to dissipate the heat fast enough.

    What BIOS do you have on the video card? 5.70.... or 5.71.....

    Mine is 5.70 as you can see but i FLASHED my bios with the leadtek bios as it was the latest bios version to date with the 7800GS.

    Hey I'm running what it says to the left. My forceware version is 93.71, bios is Version 5.71.22.21.16.
    I just ran 3dmark06 at 537/1546
    3338 3dmarks
    1259 sm 2.0
    1526 HDR/sm 3.0
    1084 CPU

    I'll try taking the core clock down to around 510 and see what happens. What do you use to tweak your card? I've been using Rivatuner and nTune w/ coolbits registry hack.
    thanks in advance bro.

    Edit: I just downloaded 86.63 forceware from xg. i heard that its the best for the 7800gs

    The 86.63 is the best and I have tested them all and it scores 5 points better for me than any other driver when running all defaults.

    Also has OLD Control panel and I have been using coolbits built into the 86.63 driver at the moment.

    I like using PowerStrip 3.75 or newer if there is one to overclock my GPU. No testing required and you can go pretty high but you will loose performance. I have never broken a card using it for the past 5 years so dont worry about testing. max I can go with coolbits is 507\1560 .

    Powerstrip takes me to 525 \ 1620

    You have a different core than I do so you should be more stable around higher clocks than me since I only have 16 pipes and you have 20-24 pipes.

    Nice bios on that card by the way. Im waiting for the next DX10 card after the 8XXX series to upgrade. I like the 7800GS its a good card.

    EDIT:
    Im going to run another test with the same settings you saw before. To give you another comparison but im pretty sure I cant go higher with out loosing performance.

    I ran 3dmark06 with 507 core and 1546 mem, and got nearly 3700 marks! snap it helped alot! But whats sad is that today, I sold my beloved 7800GS. My new setup is the asus sli deluxe with a xfx 7900GS. I heard it overclocks quite well. somewhere around a 650 core and 1600 mem, scoring around 6100 in 3dmark06 with those specs. I'm excited to set up my new mobo and 7900. Thanks for your help bro. made me feel good to get that score with my 7800. it was a great last gasp for my agp system.
