That screenshot was from a Forceware 8x.xx version, I believe.
The UI is a bit different on the different Detonator / Forceware versions..! :)

    For 45.28:

Under "Application profiles", "Direct3D Settings", in the "Custom Direct3D settings:"
    make sure nothing is selected.
If possible, click "Restore Defaults" button

Under "Application profiles", "Direct3D Settings", "More Direct3D"
under "Vertical Sync", "Vertical sync mode:"
    you must choose "Always off"

Under "Application profiles", "OpenGL Settings", in the "Custom OpenGL applications setting:"
    make sure nothing is selected.
If possible, click "Restore Defaults" button
Then - under "Vertical Sync", must choose "Always off"
(This will make the "Restore Defaults" button available again, do NOT click it this time.)

    Click "Apply", "OK" and "OK"

    clokkevi,

On mine, there are no 'application profiles' . There is OpenGL & Direct3D
settings. I can adjust according to what u mentioned above for the
OpenGL section but there is no "Vertical Sync" or "Vertical sync mode:"
options for me to select under Direct3D.
Anyway i ran SPECviewperf on my modded quadro & the result is
a lot more than the Geforce FX5900 XT. Here is the result, I guess
I'm successful on the mod... thanks a lot clokkevi, appreciate your
effort for this guide a lot... cheers... :approval:

    Run All Summary

    ---------- SUM_RESULTS\3DSMAX\SUMMARY.TXT
    3dsmax-02 Weighted Geometric Mean = 14.67

    ---------- SUM_RESULTS\DRV\SUMMARY.TXT
    drv-09 Weighted Geometric Mean = 73.89

    ---------- SUM_RESULTS\DX\SUMMARY.TXT
    dx-08 Weighted Geometric Mean = 77.20

    ---------- SUM_RESULTS\LIGHT\SUMMARY.TXT

    Sorry for the confusion!

When I think of it, it does not matter what the Direct3D is set to,
as long as SPECviewperf is an Open GL benchmark..! :)

I believe this is how it is supposed to be for SPECviewperf testing with 45.28:

    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

    1. The option called "Custom OpenGL applications setting:" in the OpenGL settings window:

Before you do the mod (when still in GeForce mode) it will be nothing here.
    After you do the mod (when in Quadro mode) you should have a list of options;

"nothing selected", 3DPaint, 3D Studio Max, Ansys, Arc/info, Arc/View, AutoCAD, Cadcentre PDMS, CATIA, CDRS, Cinema 4D, Combustion, ESPRi, Exceed, Helix, I-DEAS Master Series, ICEM Surf, IronCAD, Large model CAD, Lightwave, Maya / StudioTools, Microstation, NADAMS, NASTRAN, Patran, OneSpace Designer, Plant Designer, Imagineer, Pro/ENGINEER, Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire, PTC DIVISION Mockup, SOFTIMAGE|3D, SOFTIMAGE|XSI, SolidDesigner, Solid Edge, Solidworks, ThinkDesign, Unigraphics

    Make sure nothing is selected.

    2. Click "Restore Defaults" button, if possible

    3. In "Vertical sync:" choose "Always off"

    4. Click "Apply", "OK" and "OK" buttons to save the settings and close the settings windows.
    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

(Your 45.28 driver does look like this, only with some text in those empty boxes, yes?)

Yes, since all the tests ran without crashing and the results are better than your GeForce ones, the mod is successful! :)

hello... i had Powercolor geforce TI4200 8x and last night (i think) i succesfully patch it to softquadro with Forceware 60.85, because it passed all test from Specviewperf 7.1.1. perfectly. I patched 60.85 with Patchscripts Nvidia in folder Rivatuner v2.0 RC16.2 (AnisoBooster (OGL only), DetonatorFXAntiprotection, ForceWareAntiprotection, NVStrapAntiprotection, and of course, SoftQuadro4 :) ) .... Thx for all the Best of Master Guru3d!

this morning, i revert back to detonator 42.51 after i realized in UGS test (specviewpref 7.1.1), geometry score with forceware 60.85 is slower than 42.51... (60.85 : 5.890 , 42.51 : 6.250 ) and after all until now the both drivers worked perfectly!! :)

oh btw, i installed and tested my GF4Ti4200 8x in my cousin's computer (mobo asus A7V8X, processor Athlon XP Tbred 2400+, mem 1GB pc2700) because he worked as 3d modeller and always using 3dmax for his job, and until now, he tell me he doesn't found any problem with my "new GF4TI4200 8x to Quadro 780XGL" card :)

btw clokkevi, in page 7, you said, "If you look at each of the tests on it's own, and at the detailed results of the Unigraphics (ugs-0*) test:
    "ugs-03" (in SPECviewperf 7.1.1)
    "ugs-04" (in SPECviewperf 8.1)
    - the performance increase should be ca. 700% or so when using the Quadro mod! :)"

because the last result is not increased as you said, so i uninstalled and reinstalled again (i exactly follows your steps in page 1), but the result test ugs Specviewperf 7.1.1 still 6.314 (from 4.843) :( (but other test like drv-09 increased almost 100%), so it mean the softquadro mod doesn't worked ? :(

    here's the summary results :

    Geforce 4 4200 (Nvidia 42.51)
    -----------------------------

    ---------- SUM_RESULTS\3DSMAX\SUMMARY.TXT
    3dsmax-02 Weighted Geometric Mean = 7.002

    ---------- SUM_RESULTS\DRV\SUMMARY.TXT
    drv-09 Weighted Geometric Mean = 36.37

    ---------- SUM_RESULTS\DX\SUMMARY.TXT
    dx-08 Weighted Geometric Mean = 42.34

    ---------- SUM_RESULTS\LIGHT\SUMMARY.TXT
    light-06 Weighted Geometric Mean = 10.64

    ---------- SUM_RESULTS\PROE\SUMMARY.TXT
    proe-02 Weighted Geometric Mean = 8.385

    ---------- SUM_RESULTS\UGS\SUMMARY.TXT
    ugs-03 Weighted Geometric Mean = 4.843

    SoftQuadro 780XL (Nvidia 42.51)
    -------------------------------

    ---------- SUM_RESULTS\3DSMAX\SUMMARY.TXT
    3dsmax-02 Weighted Geometric Mean = 7.543

    ---------- SUM_RESULTS\DRV\SUMMARY.TXT
    drv-09 Weighted Geometric Mean = 62.09

    ---------- SUM_RESULTS\DX\SUMMARY.TXT
    dx-08 Weighted Geometric Mean = 55.97

    ---------- SUM_RESULTS\LIGHT\SUMMARY.TXT
    light-06 Weighted Geometric Mean = 15.05

    ---------- SUM_RESULTS\PROE\SUMMARY.TXT
    proe-02 Weighted Geometric Mean = 8.704

    ---------- SUM_RESULTS\UGS\SUMMARY.TXT
    ugs-03 Weighted Geometric Mean = 6.314

What I wrote about the results of the Unigraphics (ugs-0*) tests is valid only for the NV40 -> NV40GL softquadro mod. (6800 NU/U/GT -> Quadro FX 4000)

NV25/28 (GeForce 4) and NV35 (GeForce FX) softquadro mods will not be "perfectly" Quadro's, so the Unigraphics tests results will not increase for those.

I wrote about this in the beginning of this post

oh... ic... i'm sorry clokkevi, my fault. :tux:
so i think that's the best results for gf4 4200 8x-to-softquadro 780XL... hmm, but that's allright, i'm still happy for it, since it still faster than ati radeon 9550xt gecube extreme/speed edition (benchmarked with SPECviewperf 7.1.1) :)
umm... almost, except the ugs test :D

    thanks clokkevi :)

    Yes!

Your card is a variant of Geforce FX 5900, so it has a NV35 chip
    - which is moddable.

hello, im back.. of course with a small prob.. i was doing the procces of soft modding as listed in this thread..

i was in this part below:

    6. To do that, start RivaTuner again.
    On the "Main" tab,
    in the "Target adapter" field,
click the little button with an arrow, just to the right of
    ".................. Customize..."
    Click the left-most icon on the pop-up toolbar;
    "Low-level system settings"
In the new window called "Low-level system tweaks",
    choose the "NVStrap driver" tab.

BUT, i cannot locate the NVstrap drwiver tab in the riva tuner 'lowlevel system setting', the is only the AGD tab? i uninstalled and installed rivatuner again, but did not work for me.. any suggestions? thanks...

This is how the "Low-level system tweaks" should look like.

If you don't have the "NVStrap driver" tab,
my guess is that RivaTuner does not recognize your card.
As an example, if you un-installed the Nvidia Detonator graphic card driver,
and then started RivaTuner, it would not know what card you had.

So I wonder - does your RivaTuner seem to recognize your card?
In the "Main" tab of your RivaTuner, in the "Target adapter" field, what does the 2 lines of text say?

    Hi,
i am traynig mode ASUS V9570 TD 256MB, now I am stoped on point "0. Install original (non-patched) 45.28 drivers" of this How To. Non-patched 45.28 dont had info about NV36, so I can't simply install 45.28.
On page 9 of this How to clokkevi post link to modified 45.28 for fx5700 and others
"- all these cards will now be recognized with the new 45.28 I made:

Two days I am traying download that driver.

Internet Explorer is unable download ..... from 38.119.xxx.xxx.

    I am new in quadroing.

Unfortunately, that link has stopped working.
I have uploaded it to another place
and also edited my posts so the links point to that place instead:

    Hi,
At first I want express thanks to clokkevi for so timely download link fix.

Yesterday I managed modify 45.28 myself taking for action example clockevi 08-29-2006, 03:51 post.
After install that 45.28 modified for NV36 I get 'white snow' screen like on old TV when no signal.
At evening I get clockkevi modified 45.28 from megaupload and two times again result was blinking screen.
While loaded in safe mode to remove nonworking 45.28 I check that in display adapter properties are 45.28 driver and Fx 5700 card.

I had readed this tread and other relevant topics here and in other sites many times.

    Link with Asus specs:
    http://www.asus.com/products4.aspx?modelmenu=2&model=264&l1=2&l2=7&l3=7

    Asus oldest driver is 52.16.

RivaTuner v2rc16.2 and 7.7.5.6 driver recognize chip as Fx 5700 LE.
