Well last night i played for hours but was actually getting worse, so today i left it alone for a break and now when i had another spin my times are getting a little better. Yay for practice Edit.....well i chopped some more time off at Monza. I know i can go much quicker on a few of the corners, its just that when i now get in front of my ghost and come up to the difficult corners i push just a bit too hard and end up losing loads of time. Its a frustrating game sometimes, maybe i will take a break.:coffee:
Hello all, I need some assistance with GTR2, if some one can point me in the right direction. I cannot get the damn thing to launch after a new install (just purchased). Immediately after install, and clicking the launch icon, the WinXP error popup comes up, and says "GTR2 has encountered...and needs to close". I tried Auto, DX9, DX8, etc., tried running in compatability for Win2000, etc. I have all WinXP /SP2 updates, current DX9, WHQL vid drivers, etc. Where did I make a mistake? I tried launching from icon and from Play button on disk autorun as well, no dice. Ran DXDIAG, all was well there. Submitted report to their email address, awaiting reply. Really wanted to try this on my MOMO wheel... Searching Google, I found a couple other entries with issue, but no replies that gave info for resolve. Anyone else had this error?
drwngflies, i have had the same problem. It was working fine, then one day i get error and wont' start. I even tried the patch, and still game wont' start. So, i just uninstalled it, and reinstall and it works after that. Have you tried that? and lillelj, you are doing good. Doing very well for the short time you've been playing. Sadly, u'll be beating my a** soon.
Lucky me... Found the Update Patch 1.1 and installed, and launched first time. Searched wrong keywords before posting here... rofl... Gameon! Online name: MojoWorkin look me up
Nice going Jens. Impressive again, since you haven't been playing very long at all. Long road ahead though in the never ending learning curve that is sim racing. And yep if you get frustrated, can't beat a time and keep making mistakes, do take a break and come back to it later all refreshed. Godzilla: GTL is fantastic. Definitely give it a go. Much harder than GTR2 though but that makes it all the more sweeter when you master it.
Is it a Bird? Is it a Plane? No...its super...wtf erm its actually a flying Ferrari. lol i wish i had fraps or something to show you what its doing. The sky is spinning around like its on a treadmill and the car is bobbing up and down like an old crappy movie, pretty funny (i hit a wall and it had a bit of a glitch) (click click) Oh and heres my new time. I'm coming for ya guys, im coming ya muhahaha:bat: (clicky)
Lol yeah there's a few black holes around. You may well hit a wall on your time soon I reckon, then you'll be improving in tenths and looking at modifying your setup from then on. When you're online and you see someone fast qualifying jump on board their bonnet view using the cam and see where they're faster than you or what lines they take differently. Also, you got a whole load of other tracks to learn as well.
Lol, be a consistent 1:41:xxx in race conditions and then you can come and get us. But no... seriously, nice improvements, now to shave off those last few seconds will be harder, to go under 1:43 should be reasonably easy, but then you might hit a stone wall... Practise m8 because we love to see your times improving.
Yeah i think i may have hit that wall now yes, i am struggling to beat that time tbh no matter how hard i try. I have only been using soft slicks, am i right in thinking these are the right choice for these short 'hotlaps'? as for the other settings, those are a mystery to me at the moment. The only tracks i now pretty well is Monza, Donny Nat, and now and again i mess about at The Dubai track. so yeah, lots do to still, and that suits me just fine Edit; thanks eclap, its nice to see good support for learners in this thread, mostly provided by Wildstyle, yourself and Godzilla so far.
good job lillelj, i think you beat me already. We better race soon before you get too far ahead of me.
Of course. There aren't very many sim racers here at Guru3D and even less now than there was but the ones that are here are all good people. We all know that this genre is one of the most difficult but we also know how enjoyable it can be. So if somebody shows a passion for the game then we'll help all we can. We've all been playing these games for ages now, some more than others, and we're all very able so we know what's what and can give good advice where required.
Hello boys, it's been a while I leave you guys for 6 weeks and you've already stopped playing GTR 2 lol And the server is gone too! oh for shame! If you're wondering where I've been, I've been trying to escape the clutches of AO(HEL)L. £100 and 6 weeks of trying to get them to free up the line later, here I am... b*stards... It's good to see there are new people discovering GTR 2, I'll have to seek you out online at some point (though I'm probably the n00b now, having not played for so long )
Alright matey, yeah we were wondering where you were. Good to see you're alive and well. So did you actually manage to escape Ay Oh Hell?
Which ISP you with now? I may have to change from Pipex, since they now shape traffic throughout the day as well as shaping the P2P. The P2P I can get around via encryption, the rest of it I can't escape. So right now I have 0.3mbit for most of the day. After phoning them up and making them realise I was not someone who could be walked over they are "looking into it" even though this problem with them is well documented throughout UK broadband sites. This is Pipex hell. Dunno who I'd switch to though. And the 7950 I got cheaply so I decided to use it and sell the X1800 for profit, which I did. This has the Zalman installed, pre-overclock, load temps are the same as the X1800's idle temp, there is less noise and less power consumption. Win-win!
nice, not been tempted by the 8800's yet then I'm with nildram atm, they're a little more expensive than other isp's but they actually have people on the other end of the phone when you call them! I think they have the best customer service of any isp, and they really do their best to maximise your connection speed. I only have a 4meg connection unfortunately as I'm so far from the exchange Actually, just realised it only took AOL 4 weeks to free up the line... meh I still hate them!
Nice to see you back Morb m8. Wouldn't mind having a go at GTR2 or GTL on Monday or Tuesday next week... Haven't done it in months.
i think ive posted this on the screenshots thread before but here: FLYING ViPer!!! lol, 2nd place, the 3rd one didnt liked me (or sumthin like that) (the sound is a bit out of sync, mebbe youtube messed it up) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SrxTbp20rvk
